Night vision mod??

browsing around BMW site, i saw the 5 series had a Night vision option. I got to thinking and if we could mount a camera in our lower grille, then we could wire it to doms video to the navi. SO far in 10 minutes, this is a camera i have come across with a distance of 75 feet which is nothing compared to the 328 yards that BMW offers.

The camera dimensions are 5 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″. What are your thoughts on this idea...At first i thought wow, then realized that are HID's are pretty well, but this would supplement them especially on country roads that may have many deer on them.

PS please don't flame me for this idea....

The idea is pretty cool but looks like a like of work. You may want to look into the Honda Legend over seas (Acura RL here) because i believe it comes with nightvision.

I have thought of doing this too...I have the TVandNav to go and the S already has the REv. Camera so I thought I'd try a front view hooked to a switch for the rev. trigger on the 2nd A/V input....I just thought It would be a cool idea for anytime of the day....but I like the idea of night as well...

All it requires is the mounting of camera, tapping power and dom's converter, and i have already done dom;s converter and tapped power for it. DO you know a website where i can see the acutal camera the RL uses and the wiring diagrams for it?

I got a link from honda and the acura legned uses these componets with the camera that also warns driver of obsticales with audible tones as well as graphic:

Dual IR Far Cameras
Nightvision ECU
Wheel SPeed sensors
Yaw rate sensor
Daylight Sensor
Ambient temperature sensor

THis is a flash video and takes some time to load.

This has been discussed before: Night Vision

I see this as a possible option for the 4G TL or 3G RL.
