Newbie Here

Hello guys and gals,

Ive been around for awhile just taking in information. I purchased a 06 TL WDP 6 speed w/navi back in July. She had around 30,000 miles. The car is in excellent condition except for the fact the rear bumper doesnt match the car which I have been reading is a problem.

I have an oil change coming up here soon, few questions:

What type of filters and oil are you guys using? Any concerns/tips would be greatly appreciated. I have changed oil numerous times on my previous car.

Any one have problem getting in second gear when its chilly/cold out. It only happens with the first shift of the day. I also need to find out if my car has the recalls fixed.

Thanks for all the help. I am sure I will be asking more questions as I think of them.

Pic of the old ride:

Cant tell the bumper difference in this pic, only from the sides. If I am in the wrong part of the forum please move this.

First, welcome.
My '05 NBP 6MT has 107,500 mi and I've always used Mobil1 and Mobil or PurOne filter.
Had recent 105K service done and the tech was impressed with the condition of the upper end when he adjusted the valves.
Just use a high quality oil and a good filter. Change it according to the MID and you should be fine.
You may be experiencing the dreaded 6MT shift grind/pop out/balk. Many, including me, have had great success with GM Synchromesh Friction Modified Manual Transmission Fluid. Almost a total cure.

I just go to acura and get the oil changes done according to the MID, but most people here prefer synetic oils like amsoil, royal purple, moble 1, etc with the honda filter, mobile one filter or the NSX TALL filter which NAPA sells under a different part #.

For the trouble with second gear, go to acura, they have a reforumlated MTF that will help out. If you feel and issue with 3rd gear, there is a TSB for that where they replace the gear set.

For the re-calls, go to the dealer before you have an engine fire from power steering fluid leaking.

Thanks for the replies. I may have to give the GM syncromesh a try.

I am not sure if the previous owner used synthetic oil or not. Is it too late to switch over with 34000 miles on the car?

The GM syncromesh friction modified is a great MTF. Personally I would swap the fluid and test drive, most likely your trans problem will go away. Sounds like the classic symptom. So many Honda/Acura and other enthusiast use this fluid with great results.

Your fine to swap to synthetic. I use Royal Purple and the Mobil One oil filter.

Welcome to AZ The rear bumper is a tad off in the WDP. Front bumper is probably the same. I also have the WDP and it's that way.

Well I am going to pick up some synthetic this weekend. You guys are right about this site and wanting to mod.

For now the plans are tint, rainguards, possibly black out tailights and an intake.

I was going to go with 35% all around but the more I read about the toupe interior is that it doesnt even look tinted. So I will have to think about that, I do live in PA which any tint is illegal. As of right now I will be purchasing some snow tires here soon. Thanks for all the replies I hope to be a help to this site.

If you trust your local dealer they can fix the 3rd gear set. I did it and its smooth like butter now...the best part is the entire job was under warranty!!
