Newb question about the center console

I am a TSX owner but my lease is up soon and I was thinking of the TL...I love both cars, and both have their pros and cons for me.

I have not been into an Acura dealership yet...will be going soon. So I have been checking things out online and gathering info.

Just one question though...what is that in the center console just below the disc player? IS THAT A CASSETTE PLAYER???

I guess I will get my answer whenever I get a chance to go into a dealership...but for now I am aghast at the possibility that a luxury car these days would offer a cassette player standard. Am I wrong? Is it something else?

TL owners...please let me know!

I thought pretty much the same thing. I don't even own a cassette. Figured, I'm never going to use that feature.

I do own a cassette tape adaptor though, and because of that I use my I pod (purchased after the TL) in my car a lot.

Worked out beautifully

Well, it has a cassette AND an in dash 6-cd changer with DVD-A support (and mp3's in the '07 models)

So its not exactly a negative thing.

The reason that they maintain a cassette player is that nearly all corporate training material is still issued on cassettes

And for us more mature guys that still have a potfull of cassette tapes kicking around. Plus if you get "books on tape" for trips it is very handy.

I found it invaluable to play mp3's in my 06 model (pre aux-in line) with a tape adapter. Recently got a blitz unit with its own aux in line, so I just use that now. Although *think* that tape adapter might be the best quality sound source...it worked pretty good. The only drawback was you could faintly hear the tape player inside turning...
