New Year's Resolution
for your TL!
Mine is:
Replace bumper with full Type-S front.
Replace rear A SPEC with A SPEC Type-S.
Install Type-S quad exhaust
Paint car Kona Blue Metallic
Timing Belt/Water Pump/105k service
New Rotors/Tires
Maybe Hondata ECU?!
I love you all. Hope you all are having a great start to the New Year. For those who haven't, just smile.

Thats a pretty intense list you have there..
2013 will bring the following for my TL (Hopefully)
-ZKW lenses
-CBI bulbs
-Hondata Tuning
-Jpipe
-Possibly swapping my front end for base a-spec rather then type-s I currently have (if i can find someone to swap)
Until my commute lessens spending $$$ on anything else doesn't make sense

These TL's are getting old and soon it will be time to replace it. I still only have about 68k miles, so I could go a few more years if I need to. But ya know.. new cars and such will be coming out.. But I've thought about buying a toy and keeping the TL off to the side.. Or just buy a big new car.. Not sure what I want to do, but presently, there are no other cars I want. So, I'll be keeping it a while. Maybe Small mods.. Nothing huge though. I think the front end was big enough.

3- Do Independent Fog Lights with Stock Switch ASAP
4- Paint the calipers copper orange, have the paints, just need time
5- 35% Tint
6- XLR8 ISC Coilovers after winter
7- Brakemotive set after winter
SB is buying an AM

It's just not out-dated enough to sell the car or trade it for something new.
1) Hondata this week
2) I had grandiose plans to build the engine with cams, ported heads, raised compression, etc.
OR
2) ditch my grandiose plans for the motor and instead get Tein SA's, lightweight wheels and BBK for my track setup
OR
2) divorce my wife and do both the motor build AND suspension/brakes/wheels ?!??! YESSAH'

Hey.. "I love cars".. I love it.. We have your nemesis here on acurazine.. haha You'll never guess his name
my car is paid off too.. so ya thats a nice thing that makes you wanna keep it. especially there is life left.. But still, sometimes you can more for your car with fewer miles. So, it all depends on you.

I've got to do my timing belt, I've had the parts sitting here for a year.
Going to do the valve adjustment this week while I'm on vacation.
Oil, trans fluid, coolant, and the new Redline "High Temp ATF" in the power steering was just swapped out less than 2 weeks ago. No "normal" maintenence left to do.
I'm going to replace every burned out bulb this year along with a tablet in place of the factory navi even though it's still working fine.
Definitely going to do some more sound deadening. I'm not a bass head but the car definitely needs more sound deadening for those rare times I crank up the 15s and the 10s in the doors.
On a more personal note, I'm going to run no less than 16 miles a week and workout no less than 3 days a week assuming I can get the sleep and calories required. I started "prerunning" a couple months ago after taking 5 years off so I would be able to meet this resolution. I bought a treadmill for the days when the weather is bad or the air quality is too bad to run so there's no excuses. Goal is to be a lean 230lbs again as I was 6 years ago with an achievable maintainable 10% BF level by April. If I keep a very respectable 10% BF level I can dip down into the single digits in a week or two if I need to.
Oh, and have the GN back on the road. I was going to put the "built" 4.5L engine I've had sitting here for nearly 4 years in it but as of now I just want to drive it again, no time for that.
Almost forgot, I'm going to buy the equipment to do my own alignments, no one can ever get them right and I believe I can do better myself especially with the lack of adjustments the TL has. Might throw the old 50 shot back on the TL for a little extra "passing power".

I need to do all fluids too.. need to do another change or partial change of tanny fluid.
Alignments: my dad told me back in the old days, when they changed their tie rod ends, to get it set back close, they would use a string tied to the rear tire and then pull it tight to the front tire around the front edge. And then you could see if the back edge of the front tire was straight or crooked. I did that once using a long speaker wire and it worked. you kow when changing tie rods, you just gotta be able to hit the right thread as you screw it on. Sometimes thats hard to do even if you measure it. It was good enough to get me to an alignment shop. And even then I think it was ok. But on my old Camaro, I wanted them to adjust more than toe-in.
You don't need to run that much. Walking and controlling your calorie intake will do miracles without exerting yourself to any great lengths.
Several ideas here..The bigger you are, the easier it is to lose weight.
1 mile of walking will burn the same calories as 1 mile of running. Just running gets it done faster.
eat smaller meals but more often.
If you hit it that hard after being off so long, you will either mentally burn out after seeing little results, or you will physically wear yourself out if you do run that much. Plus if you consider a 5yr span of time, running that much is unsustainable. Life happens. Scheduling that much running can only last so long.
walking vs. running:
You can achieve about the same by just reducing your intake and walking. Plus you might even injure yourself by pulling a muscle, or could develop an Achilles tendonitis or something else if you are not used to rigorous running. Being 230, you might strain something. Heck you can strain something being lighter weight and older. Anyway..
I wouldn't hit it hard. I would just get a doable plan. Start counting calories. I have tried about every diet out there and diets do not work. Because a diet has an end. What you/we need are lifestyle changes that are permanent. That is when you stop dieting and you develop a certain eating and exercise routine. Anyway, many diets out there, and they all achieve something.. but is there a balance? I think so. There is low carb, high protein diets, and then just calorie counting and those diets that say you can eat all the fat and protein you want just avoid carbs, and then, the fat free diet.. or low sodium diet.. there’s so many... But truthfully, our bodies are a composite of Everything combined. Everything..
Everything such as:
eating late / before bed
not enough protein
too many carbs
too much flower items like noodles, rice and bread
not enough fruit
not enough sleep
not enough water
too much soda
too much sugar
too much fat and too many carbs
too many calories
not enough exercise or simple activity
too much sitting at the computer. haha
Someone also told me once;
"if you want to weigh 200 pounds then take-in 2000 calories a day"
"if you want to weigh 180, then take-in 1800 calories per day"
and 150, then 1500 calories per day.
And I think that is a good motto.
Why is it that some big people can lose weight on a 2000 calorie a day diet, while someone like me would gain weight by eating the same thing? Is it because our bodies are different and "things just work differently on different people? Can we say that? NO! Our bodies are much more alike than what people think. My calorie intake is around 1500, and if I eat the same things that http://alivincent.com/ tells her people to eat, I would get fat. I hear her tell people stuff and I am shocked and I say "oh my gosh I can’t believe she is telling him to eat that".. But then again, this guy that she is trying to help is really fat.. And he can’t go from a 3000 calorie a day diet down to 1500. He would be in shock. So, it’s a gradual thing. So the more you want to lose the more and more stringent you have to be with your intake. It’s like, slowly nit picking piece by piece until you get your calorie intake down to 1500 per day and your body size reduced. This is why calorie counting has a part in our general physique, not just when or what we eat.
So anyway, people argue about what works and what doesn't work, and actually, all diets have good attributes but our bodies are a composite of all these things. Its not just 1 thing. And some of these things add and subtract from each other. Why can Michael Phelps eat thousands of calories per day and have wash board abs? Well, he burns a lot. So one offsets the other. That is just 1 more reason why some people cannot eat as much as others.. otherwise they would get fat. Height and activity level can govern a baseline calorie intake level that is acceptable for good health. People always say "this or that doesn’t work for me".. but truthfully, its only because they might be exceeding their "maximum daily calorie level for their height or desired weight". For example, A 500 pound man may actually lose weight eating a large pizza everyday.. Well, I would get fat if I did that.. So what’s the difference? The difference is, the 500 pound man normally eats 3 large pizza per day so he has dropped his intake by 2 large pizza's haha That’s why its easier for fat people to lose weight, because all they gotta do is just a little bit and they lose fast. At Thanksgiving, my mom said she lost 50 pounds.. But my mom was like 350 at the time. I on the other hand weigh 150. I don’t have 50 pounds to lose. I could not change my diet enough to lose 50 pounds no matter how stringent I get. So if I got on the “Biggest looser”, I would lose. haha
So long story short, every level of weight loss requires something else eliminated from your diet. And I am only focusing on what you put in your mouth than how much exercise you get because again, truthfully, you don't have to work off, what you don't put in your mouth! (and I am point the finger at myself too)
Over the summer 2012, I saw this sort of chubby white kid out walking at the lake. Maybe 18 years old. I run at the lake often (as I did today, even though it was cold) so I became somewhat familiar with him. I don't think he had much money and he must have lived close. Just my gut feeling based on his modest attitude and nasty pants. haha. Anyway, I never seen him before until this year.. (ps. I see a lot of adults that come and go, but only the trim ones keep up their running/biking. The fat ones, I see maybe once and never again. That should tell you something) Anyway That kid! Well, I watched him lose weight over the summer by only walking! He ever ran a lick! He always had just a steady walk. I never saw him look around or anything.. Just walk. And toward the latter part of the summer, he cut his hair real short and his posture changed. By then he had lost even more weight. And still, he never ran. And he wore them same nasty pants. He never wore shorts. kinda strange. oh well.. But my point is, I’m sure he only did it by controlling his intake and walking. And I don’t think weight training was in his exercise plan because he was approaching skinny by late summer when I noticed a different/better posture. Anyway.. That was a real change, and I think he is successful. Theory: “Mind over matter”. Jesus went out to the desert and said “no” to everything, even to the point of death, until Angles had to help him. Now that’s power. "Saying no to the flesh". That is something I need to improve upon, in more ways than one.
That's one thing I found out, calorie reduction is saying to the flesh. It's a spiritual thing. And also, if you analyze those low carb diets, basically what you are doing is reducing calories. Either fat or sugar or carbs, when you reduce one or the other, you reduce calories. I think that is why each one of those kinds of diets work to some degree because it impacts the calorie total on the "nutritional facts" label. And protiens don't have as many calories. That's why we need to increase protiens and reduce sugar, carbs and fats. Notice I did not say elminate carbs.. just reduce them to a more balanced "protien:carb" ratio.
I need to do all fluids too.. need to do another change or partial change of tanny fluid.

Everything such as:
eating late / before bed
not enough protein
too many carbs
too much flower items like noodles, rice and bread
not enough fruit
not enough sleep
not enough water
too much soda
too much sugar
too much fat and too many carbs
too many calories
not enough exercise or simple activity
too much sitting at the computer. haha
Someone also told me once;
On the other hand, didn't start out my NY that well like I thought. This morning when I was getting ready for work, my car was missing. It was towed... wrongfully (I believe). I have a permit, and they had no right to tow me.
But, I do have to pay right now-- and will have to dispute through the courts and/or through them. Was also thinking about doing some sort of route through my Bank, but would be different because I authorized the charge.
Not only did I have a permit, but by Texas law they can't even tow me even if I DIDN'T have a permit because they had no visual sign, or notice on the curb/floor of it needing a permit.

lol a lot of people getting rid of their 3G!
My resolution is to maintain my TL and keep it in the same condition. No mods or upgrades unless it replaces a broken/failing part, will not be buying upgrades for working components.

Timing belt + water pump
New brakes + new rotors
3x3 tranny flush + pressure switches
Front bumper respray
Fix small rip in front passenger seat
Basic maintenance
Don't think I'll be doing any more mods. I'll put that money aside for the next ride, when I decide what to get.

Jeez alot of you guys unloading your TLs for 2013! I made a promise to myself to keep her till 150k before I even consider selling. (assuming nothing major happens to it). Already been banking $$$ for the next car, but I think a house is gonna come first.
Install the A-Spec kit that came in the mail today, put in my V-LEDs, install Brakemotive rotors, and get the Stage 3 exhaust done. I have all the parts, I just need to put everything on (car is in the shop; it should be back tomorrow).
Also thinking about buying a CBR600RR and getting coilovers/wheels for the TL.

Lol, I'd love to keep it but it's turning into a PITA having two cars.
Hey.. "I love cars".. I love it.. We have your nemesis here on acurazine.. haha You'll never guess his name
my car is paid off too.. so ya thats a nice thing that makes you wanna keep it. especially there is life left.. But still, sometimes you can more for your car with fewer miles. So, it all depends on you.

and admittedly I have car ADHD so that's a large part of why I stripped out the trunk and rear of the car so that nobody would ever buy it from me. Force myself to drive it till it falls apart
worth it for sure. my buddy upstairs bought one a few months ago, paid 17k for it with like 68k miles. You really can't go wrong if performance is what you're after. Personally I think e46 was the pinnacle of the m3 when it comes to looks, especially compared to the newer e92 which is totally understated for being an M.
good luck with your search. Only problem I have with it is that every time I drive it, I have to remember that reverse is at the complete opposite end of where it is in my TL lol

1) 3x3 and pressure switches
2) Hondata flash Pro
3) A-spec lip kit (if it still available else where out there in MRP color) if not I will not even bother with the lip kit and go for Hondata instead.
I am in no hurry to get rid of my TL since the car will be pay off by March so no car payment > monthly payment and worry if you forgot to pay the bill on time. Other people just can't hold on to new car itch so as long as the car just pay off they just trade in for another one = constantly having debt.
