New whip

So ive been on and off this board for about three years and you guys talk about alot of interesting ****. Alot of it is actually helpful, and i purchased a Tl w/ navi in 2001. Gotta say I loved that car.Sadly to say, I got into an accident last month, and the cars totalled. Been readin the boards and done some research. About to buy a new car this weekend, and I narrowed it down to the 04 TL w/navi, or an 02-04 3-series. I know you guys will be biased as this is a TL forum, but as a former TL owner i can say that acura does make a good product. Just wonderin what you guys think are the pro's and cons on both cars if you have any experience between the two. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx.

Dammmmmn, member since 2000, huh? Welcome back!!

Well, when shopping for a new ride this Xmas, it came down to the G35, 3 series, 9-3SS, A4 and TL. To make a long story short, I fell in love with the inside of the TL and the exterior is awesome too. RWD/FWD war of words isn't my style and I'm never pushing a car 9/10ths + anyways. In fact, I prefer a FWD setup as the midwest weather can be a bit unpredictable from time to time.

The smooth and precise 6MT shifter is to die for, IMHO.

I've had the car for 30 days or so and I simply love it. Love driving it and loving looking at it. It's a fine mix of sport and luxury in a four-door sedan.

Plus, the 3 is being redesigned in 2005 and who knows what that finished product will end up looking like.

I agree, welcome back, and start becoming a regular again after buying a new 04 TL.

Beemers are nice cars, but I would not consider buying a used one, just to get into your price range, or that of a TL.
Don't forget, they will eat you alive with maintenance, and if it's out of warranty, forget it.

in a 2004 TL your getting much more for your money. I've had my 2004 TL Navi for almost 2 months now and i LOVE it. Great car and I havn't had any problems with it so far. It's fast, luxurious, slick, technologically advanced, has a great track record for reliability, and has great resale value. So their doesn't seem to be any draw backs in gettin an Acura. Getta TL in my opinion.

the biggest thing for me would be the fact that the 3 series is being completely redesigned in 2005, like Tripp11 said. and since you're buying now, rather than when the 2005 comes out, you won't really get a good deal on a 2004 model.

also, once you add in all the options for the 330 (no reason to get the 325) that BMW nickel and dimes you for, you walk away spending a LOT more.

but, of course, the bimmer is a lot of fun to drive, so it's up to you...

bmw vs acura

So i went into the dealer 2day, and there were no used 330's with the options that I wanted. Now leaning towards the new TL alot more. The x5 caught my eye, but I gotta wait ta drive it before thats gonna even be considered. Only thing about the TL is the 5/at/nav anthracite s gonna take up to 6 weeks?!?!? I kinda need a car soon so this is a problem. What do you guys think... other color combos = faster delivery? Thoughts on the x5?

Do they have a Nighthawk Black Pearl? I hear that one is the fastest color.

I love my TL but I've never driven any other car or cross shopped so I wouldn't be of much help. I didn't really see the need to look at any other car. I knew the TL was the one the moment I saw it.

with all thats said and done......dude how tall are you? If your over 6 Feet like me i say you go with the TL....the 3 series is just too cramped, too expensive and it's getting OLD....but if i had to get a 3 series i would get the 330ci(that is if you don't really have rear passengers) my buddy has one and even if i'm 6'4", the space is still really good...i think the front seats of the coupe are even more roomier than the sedan.....just my 2 cents......

My Thoughts...

BMW= Ultimate "Driving" Machine (slow, but out handles anything on the road, EXPENISIVE to maintain, get to date more gold diggers)

Acura TL= Ultimate Car ("overall" better car, tech de jour, fast, easy on the wallet, honda qauilty)
