I am in queens by kissena park.
Yea, had TLS rims and pretty much brand new Dunlop winter tires. Had gorilla wheel locks but that doesnt really stop anyone from stealing your wheels.
All four rotors were on the ground, those need to be replaced...the body shop didnt get a chance to get it on a lift yesterday but mentioned rockers were damaged. I am worried about suspension, brake damage, etc.
Anyone with GEICO go through the same situation? If so, how was the process? any issues?

I didn't go through the same situation but the lady who hit my car has geico, and they suck. i just got my check this week for an accident that happened almost three weeks ago, It was like pulling teeth to get it. Then again most insurance company's probably will do that.

Really sorry to hear OP. Has to be one of the worse feelings. Everytime I leave my car somewhere for an extended period of time I constantly paranoid.
This could happen anywhere, any state or city. I see cars on the ground all the time when im in the hood.

were you running the gorilla locks that had 1/tire or the one that has all lug nuts that are locks?

so sorry to see that.
i wonder if you could engrave wheels with your VIN (if you don't ever expect to sell the wheels). Obviously, it won't prevent the theft or installing on another car, but might help the thieves from selling the wheels.

Again, OP sorry for this. Shit sux. I am super paranoid about this.
Can someone give the part # for the gorilla wheel locks that are for all the lug nuts? I need them for my aspecs. I remember reading along time ago that u cant just get any lug nuts for these rims. Thanks!

So Geico will go check out the damage at the body shop? How does that work? At least you didn't have to keep it just chillin on the ground for another 4 days.
I have Geico, so make sure to give a follow up review of the repair and any issues.

Man, that really hurts to see. Such a shame to see people disrespect other peoples property that they work so hard for, I despise thieves! It hurts even more to see how they further disrespected your property by just dropping it on the ground as they took the wheels.

wow sorry to see and hear about shit like this..although if it was on wheels that would be one crazy drop lol sorry gotta look on the bright side now.
even looks like a good neighborhood too and still this happens there wow
I'm thinking its time for me to run two different kind of locks. ill buy two sets and mix then up between the two TLs.. perfect plan

Sometimes I wonder if running "Run-Flat" tires, and then putting Loctite on the wheel studs would prevent thefts, since I have air-tools at home, and can use an Impact wrench to remove the lugnuts. And I'm sure thieves aren't going to be running around using air tools to remove your wheels...
I also have a 12 volt impact wrench that I gave my wife to put in her trunk in case she gets a flat, so she doesn't have to exert herself too much to remove the lugs... Maybe if I keep one in the trunk, we wouldn't need run-flats, as the battery operated impact wrench could loosen a loctite treated lug?
You guys think this would help, or is this a stupid idea?

sockr1-Are these the ones you are talking about? If so, how many do you need and will the fit stock type-s rims? TIA.

I don't think the gorilla lock system is that great. It's great in a sense that it's small so it's deep in the lug hole but they sell these universal sockets that have a slit on the top that pretty much slides over any lugs that have a grooved slit like the gorilla locks. Here's what I did, just go on ebay or something and order two sets of oem locks, it's highly unlikely the thief will carry all those sets of locks or enough 19mm sockets to hammer over all of them.

Once you receive the locks with a registration number you can order an extra lock key from gorilla for 10.50 and I recommend this since it's better to be Prepared with an extra key at home instead of rush shipping one when you need it.

Yea these are the right ones. You will only need to buy 1 set since it comes with 20 locks. These will fit the type s rims that is what I have right now. If you have spacers make sure the spacer stud is similar in length to the OEM stud.

Makes me cringe every time I look at your picture. Had my entire car stolen a couple years back, only to find a shell of a car. Wish they just took my wheels.
I feel for ya brother. Keep us posted on the entire process, good luck with everything.

Op, that sucks, the annoying part is insurance and how much more damage there could be... and also what you can do for the future so this might not occur again..
one thing I have noticed with friends who have had car thefts or items stolen from cars is that most thieves scout the area (from a couple police reports).. so even if you have different lug nuts a thief will figure out which ones you have.. gorilla is well known especially for luxury cars or cars with very nice wheels.. so thieves will know what to use
I would say having gorilla or wheel locks is something that will delay a thief for a few seconds.. but the good part is if you have an alarm like some folks stated about movement, tilting or sensitivty it will give them hesitation or atleast the time needed for the alarm to make enough noise
nothing is fool proof but a thief will not spend the time needed if a lot of noise is in their ears
I live in the burbs and not worried but hang out in the city often enough that I will invest in a good alarm system...
This world is not going to be short of crooks or degenerates...

No, the oem has over 10 sets of locks at least from what I've searched. Also the lock itself is round on the outside so that way it doesn't have any key to fit onto unlike the gorilla's. The gorilla's have slits and grooves on the side, I once had them on a previous car, couldn't find the key, and the shop had a universal socket that fit over any locks that had a slit, a line in the middle of it that can pretty much take off any lug nut with a slit or groove on the sides. I suggest going oem with two sets, just go on ebay and search for "acura tl ome lugs" or something like that and you'll find many used sets for cheap. They only come in 4 so get two sets so that way it's 2 per wheel. Making it pretty difficult to remove.

Sorry for your loss. Hope your insurance company does their part and makes this situation whole and like new. Shame on those that did this. They will get there's down the road. Let us know how this comes along.
