New TL Owner Looking for Advice

Hi Everyone, great community you guys running here. So far I've found a lot of useful information on here.

About two weeks ago I finally pulled the trigger and purchased an 05 WDP TL after searching for a car for months. This car is a major upgrade for me ( switching from a nissan sentra ). I am the car's 3rd owner and the car has been well taken care of by the previous owner who put about 4k miles (now has almost 41k miles) on it in a little more than a year of ownership. Prior to that the car was leased somewhere in Florida.

I'm not very good with the mechanical side of things so I'd like to throw some questions at you guys and maybe I could gather up some helpful feedback that would help me sort things out.

I already showed a car to a mechanic, who's a friend of mine and 2 issues that he found is that one of the engine mounts needs to be replaced as well as a tensioner somewhere in the AC area. I'm currently in the process of transferring remaining 2 years of Acura Care warranty onto my name and hopefully those things will be covered. If someone know about this parts in regards to the warranty please comment.

The thing that does bother me is that my last tank of 93 lasted me only 200 miles, which I know shouldn't be the case. The previous owner was filling up the car with regular 89 claiming that someone he spoke with at Acura told him that using premium gas isn't necessary... So finally, my question is could the fact that he was using 89 for a while have caused any major problems for the car and if so what I could do to reverse this.

Sorry for the long read and thanks in advance for any information.

First of all, congrats on your TL and welcome to AZ! Nice color too.........

Within the warranty the motor mounts and tensioner should be cover.

As far as engine damage from using 89 over a long period of time. Really can't say for sure. Keep putting 91 or better. The ECU will adjust to that over time. You may want to throw in some Sea Foam into your gas tank to clean the injectors.

You can read up on the TL in the 3G garage sticky thread.

The engine mounts are covered under the powertrain portion of the CPO warranty. The timing belt tensioner is also covered.

The above answer is from my copy of the CPO warranty.

Thank you guys for your prompt responses.

Hopefully the gas efficiency gets sorted out with time. I'll be looking into the sea foam advice shortly and I also came across the thread that talks about resetting the ECU.

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/resetting-ecu-makes-me-happy-747662/

Hopefully that's going to lead to some improvement.

Anyways, glad to be part of this friendly community and I hope to contribute to it in some ways in the near future.

Mine only gets 17-18 in town - about 230-240 mi per tank. Supposedly improves markedly on highway though...

Both of the 2 Acura dealers that I spoke to told me 89 is fine for the TL....I have been putting 89 every other time.
