New TL Owner =]
Hello there
My name is Nick, I just picked up a 2006 TL yesterday. Anthracite, 6spd, brembos, a-spec... no nav, oh well.
I've never owned an Acura, although I put about 30k on my Moms 2003 CL-S something like 10 years ago now lol
I needed something to beat around in while I tore apart my 2000 Buick Regal for another round of mods.
I love this car already... maybe I'll end up keeping it!

It made about 500whp on 93 octane. That was on a small cam, stock heads, and stock trans.
It's gonna be down for a month or two for worked heads, bigger cam, meth injection, and built transmission.
And the TL
No good pics of it yet, just got it lol.

Thanks guys =]
The feeling never gets old.
I had a 2005 GTO for awhile... its just not the same. People expect the GTO to run 10s, and if you're slower than that no one is impressed.
People are surprised when my Regal beats a stock 4.6 Mustang.. nevermind the Vipers LOL

I have a slight hum coming from the front end when rolling. It sounds kinda like a wheel bearing but I can't put my finger on it. The front tires are slightly dry rotted so I might see if a tire rotation takes care of it.
Transmission question... can I do a fluid flush? The shifter feels a bit notchy (not sure if that's normal?) it doesn't grind or whine or anything. How long does the clutch usually last? I couldn't find any proof of a clutch replacement, car has 87k.
Engine: Timing belt has never been done. Big job? How long are they good for? I can do pretty much anything to a car... probably similar to the timing belt job on my old Taurus SHO.
Anything I should look for?
Thanks!

Clutch is good. I have 82k on my type-s and run it pretty hard at 300 whp - it still grabs like a mofo. Only problem I have now is I think the throwout bearing or pressure plate is causing the pedal to stick to the floor briefly sometimes after doing hard shifts at high rpm repeatedly. So clutch should last a long time if you just DD it.
Timing belt is part of the 105k maintenance (water pump, TB, coolant, and spark plugs) - there is a kit you can buy from our vendors for like $299 that includes everything, and if you are experienced (seems like you are), it should take 4 hours, maybe 5 if you drink a lot throughout the process like I do.
Nice Regal - my buddy has an M3 now but had a Regal GS before that with pulley upgrades and a couple other goodies. Average Joe definitely doesn't know that those Regals can come with the supercharged 3.8 and there's a million parts to upgrade that platform on the cheap

I appreciate the info!
For now I'll probably just address the humming, do the fluid change, and call it a day lol.
I don't really beat the car, just wanted something nice to tool around in while my car was down for upgrades.
Maybe I'll keep it maybe I'll sell it... idk yet.
If I do keep it I'll get to the timing belt for sure.

You sound like Nick from this video, with a SHO and then a Regal:
The early remedy for the 6M notchiness or dropping out of 3d gear was replacing the fluid with GM Synchromesh.
The timing belt and other services are based on the Maintenance Minder indicator in the MID display-- service "4" is the timing belt/plug change, and it usually comes up between 100K-120K mile. If you don't have an owner's manual, just go to the Acura owner website-- you can access all the owner's and Navi manuals on line without having to register.
The only time-based service is a full flush and change of the brake fluid every 3 years, so you should probably do that first.
There is no mileage-based service for the 3G TL, which relies on the Maintenance Minder.

The DIY section is called the 3G Service Dept./Garage and is stickied here: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=553557

I have 2 quarts of Pennzoil syncromesh in my garage. IIRC it's basically the same thing as GM Syncromesh.
I'll do the fluid flush tomorrow

Changed to penzoil syncromesh today. I'm pretty certain what I drained out was regular motor oil... it was extremely clean though. Almost like it had just been changed recently.
Either way, it does shift smoother now.
Is there a way to raise the rev limiter slightly? I remember the 03 CL-S would rev to ~7300... this car seems to cut off right before 7k. It's probably leaving some good power on the table.
