new tl :)
new tl :)
so my TL is officially undergoing surgery. Aspec kit on. 5 percents all around.i picked out the theme of my car which is going 2 be black and blue. i wanna out 8000k or the brighter blue HID lights on it and then tint out the headlights. but does anyone know which kits are good and what bulbs do i need?? also. i wanna smoke out the amber corners. what percentage do i have 2 heat the oven till?? any ideas on what else i can do 2 my baby??
no to 8000k bulbs and no to the tinting of the headlights..
both of these look bad, reduce visibility, and will blind people.
there are a lot of people who do have custom headlights tho, a member on here does them. Or you could do it your self, search the site and you'll find the right temperature to heat the oven and for how long. ( it slipped my mind on these two points)
If you check out the 3G garage, it will have everything for your needs.
here's the 3G garage:

lol, you are very 'categorizable'
tinted headlights, tinted tail lights, 99999K blue HIDs, and drive like an asshole
tint the windows, lower the car, throw a kit on, and get 6000K tops (i'm even thinking of changing to 5000K due to wayyyyy increased lightout).
You answered it yourself, basicly.
Same reason why people slam their cars.
It looks cool, yes. Practical? Probably not.
People go from 4300k to 6000k+ (which loses brightness!), just to look "cool". Same concept as above.
IMO 8000k+ is just seeking for some attention.

I have 8K and it looks good. Matches switchbacks turn signals very well.
I drive every day and every night. No complaints on light output coming from me.
Plus, you have to remember it is from behind a lens. Not straight bulb shining 8K in someone's face.

All and all this is your car and you should definitely mod it how you like, but what everyone saying is extremely true and can hinder your vision dramatically. Sounds like you got the "mod bug" but definitely do some research before you get "buck wild" on your TL. We recently had a thread closed on a member hoping to put "small" rear spoiler on their car. This forum has a plethora of info for me, you, my cat, your dog, and even the big man upstairs about our TLs.....lol. Post some pics when you get a chance. Congrats on the purchase!~

Congrats on your TL. Sounds like you have some nice plans for it. Like mentioned about the sweet spot for the HID's are 4300K (OEM) but some go as high as 6000K to get that bluish look. Good luck and welcome to AZ
I've loved the color and output of 6000K for over 2 years.
I've now turned against even 6000K until one of my 6000K bulbs went out. To avoid a ticket I quickly removed the bulb and threw in one of my stock 4300K bulbs so I was running 4300K on the left and 6000K on the right.
Upon pulling into my driveway, my lights were shining on the garage door and I noticed that the right side was significantly dimmer and at first I thought it was an HID bulb problem but I realized how much light output was compromised.
This is really only evident when you're running two bulbs at different temperatures at the same time. I don't mean slightly dimmer, but SIGNIFICANTLY dimmer than the 4300K.
After that I removed the other 6000K and am back to my stock 4300K bulbs.
Contemplating 5000K for a better color.
I don't think safety is really an issue because it's not like oncoming driver's aren't gonna see your 8K or 10K bulbs. But in terms of self visibility, 4300K shine up the road SO much better than 6000K. Going to agree, the color isn't the best but you gotta lose some to win some.
It's called sacrificing some kelvins for some lumens.

I almost regret buying 8000K HID's for my car lol luckily I still have my OEMs
