$1000 (Canadian) for 6MT?

An informative review (cooled storage compartment, Thinsulate insulation...), that also points out some Canadian quirks. It costs $1000 more for basically the 6MT ("dynamic package"), and both color and NAVI options are more restrictive than South of the border. But the NAVI speaks with a French accent!

Thanks

Thanks for the informative post. I learned something new about my TL.

I knew that my aluminum trim got cold to the touch when the A/C is on, but it didn't occur to me that the center console compartment is cooled.

The center console on my previous 99 TL could act like a mini refrigerator when the AC is on and I just found this by accident

The rear A/C vents make the center console of my '04 the same way.

Ha! Never thought of that! I wondered why my drink stayed so cold for as long as it did on my last road trip. You'd think I could have figured that one out...

Note that there is no Navi. The 'Dynamic Package' has niehter Navi, nor an XM radio. Stipd Canadian laws prohibit a navigation system with a standard trasnmission and also outlaw XM radio.

If I lived in Canada and wanted a 6MT I would import one. No way in hell I would get this car without Navi.

The US model can not be imported, it does not meet Canadian road safety standards.

Tommy, the Canadian Government thinks it needs to protect Canadian culture by cramming a minimum legislated 30% Canadian content down our throats. XM radio does not allow then to enforce the CRTC broadcast standards within the country. This is along the same lines as why US directTV is illegal in Canada...

I have nothing against Canada.. as a matter of fact i am the worlds biggest RUSH fan.. However, that is going just a bit to far by the Canadian Goverment.. :shit: on them..
America might have its faults.. but atleast i can have XM radio and Nav/Manual Tranny in my car if i want. :P

Another bad thing for XM in Canada is bad reception and easy blocking of the signal. The 2 XM satellites (actually named Rock and Roll) have Geostationary orbits (unlike Sirius). Their longitudes are 85west and 115west but their latitude is somewhere between -11(11south) and 11north. Even here in MA i find its easily blocked by buildings sometimes.
