New Owner NBP 6MT

Hello everyone!

I've been a member lurker on this board for a few years now and I picked up an 05 NBP/Ebony 6MT with 85k on the clock last week. I've scoured through threads over the years reading about these cars and was glad I finally found one in the vintage I was looking for. I'd post pics but its hideously dirty right now, plus you all know what these look like - it's stock... for now.

Anyway, the car has a few things that need to be taken care of and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right and cost-efficient direction.

First things first I went ahead and ordered GMSFM fluid earlier today from gmpartsdirect, it's already shipped out and it should be changed in by the end of the week.

Second, the car needs:

a new shift knob, stock preferred, the lowest price I've seen is $75 shipped.

a 2nd key, it only came with the Driver 1 key, I'm not interested in a switchblade unless the price difference is menial between an OEM programmed key and remote and the switchblade. Seems a programmed key and remote can be had for ~$100

an actuator? The driver's door lock is unresponsive to the remote or inside door operator. It opens with the key and locks all the doors if manually locked but no response from the key, from reading on here I believe this is an actuator problem, is there an easy fix though?

black floor mats

and a solution to the clutch pedal creak when depressed about 80%, only started today.

Also, how good is the Progress Anti-Roll Bar, is it worth the price?

Thanks and please be of any help if you can, I look forward to learning from this board and modding slowly!

welcome and please don't ask where you can get a-spec for cheap, PLEASE DON'T ASK THAT. Seems to be a first thing anyone asks when they join here.

I had the pedal creak- actually came in handy while buying the car as I got them to knock $500 off the price (I thought it might require a new master cylinder). However you can fix it by taking off the plastic cover near the pedal and spraying some lithium grease down there. Problem hasnt come back since.

Welcome. I've got close to the same car and I also need a 2nd key and fob, or a switchblade. Seems more complicated than it should be.....
Is your shifter just all scratched up like mine or something worse?
I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. If you find a good source for key/fob please let me know.
Enjoy that thing......

Yep, this should do it.

For the OP. Just make sure you remove the bottom dash cover before you attempt this. The cover is easy to remove as it has clips in the front and protrusions that fit into holes in the rear. Spray the white lithium grease on the actuator rod (goes through the firewall) and try to hit the clutch pedal coil springs, too. A simple five to ten minute job that should solve your problem.

Congrats on your purchase. You can ask ANYTHING you want here. We are here to help. All we ask is that you search before posting a thread (maybe that's what myron was implying)

I read your threads, congrats on your recent purchase as well. Yes my shifter is extremely scratched up and some of the metal is peeling off, it looks hideous.

I think my best option for keys will be to go with an OEM remote from eBay (~$35 shipped) and find a key somewhere else. As for programming does anyone know a good locksmith in the DC Metro area?

The thing I am asking the OG members is to be nice to the new people. Everyone was new once, a friendly nudge to search or point a new member in the right direction is two Obviously, if a new member makes repeated threads without searching will be a cause for concern.

To be honest, one of the moderator teams' pet peeve is being disrespectful to new people, and we won't tolerate it.

Deerpark, ggesq is absolutely right-about everything. Congrats on your purchase and welcome. If you're spending $75 on a shift knob, I got this one on EBAY for $88. I like it much better than the OEM knob....

It's a Momo shift knob.

Good luck with the "modding slowly" part. When I joined, I wasn't going to mod much beyond window tints. Now look at my signature.....

Actually, I was noticing your sig in another thread. "Logo'd valve stem caps"???? I can't figure out what is more amazing: that you have them, or that you list them!!
And you're my age!
Funny.....
I hope you take this in the light hearted manner it is intended.

Welcome. The clutch can be fixed by where it goes through the firewall put some special grease in there and that should fix it. It almost hesitates like its worn correct? I did this and it fixed it.

Also if you need anything like custom headlights, tail lights for OEM parts I can help you.

Jimmy-I knew you were just giving me a hard time. I actually like them-they are very subtle, but kind of classy looking. Even the techs at my dealership asked where I got them-they wanted a set for their cars.

DP, sorry I don't know the answer for this. If the main post for the manual transmission is the same as the automatic, you'll be OK.
