New owner of a 2007 CBP TL Type-S
Just got this beautiful baby yesterday with 70k miles and traded in my 2006 NBP TL with navi.. What I would like to know is what I should get checked and/or replaced first? I will be making a trip to the dealer to have it looked at. It's an automatic in case that matters.

Congrats!! I recently bought an 08 CBP TL-S. I also like the color. Welcome to AZ and register her here, www.myacura.com. Save the navi and radio codes for safe keeping. Post up some pics...........

Welcome to the CBP TLS family! (and to the rest of the forum i guess )
Get some pics up!
As far as what you need to check...you should probably check the service records if they're available to make sure that the transmission has been properly maintained and that the fluid isn't old and nasty. First thing I did when buying my 07 was do a transmission flush since my mechanic recommended it. Also check the usual things - filters and the like. You'll likely have to replace the timing belt when you get closer to 105k. since you just got the car I'd just have a trusted mechanic look through the whole car for any issues.

Welcome and congratulations!
Maintenance Tips: Here's what I suggest, and what I did immediately to maintain my "new" used 2008 TL-S
1. Replace the 3 transmission pressure switches to avoid tranny shudder and prevent premature wear or self-destruction—replacement is not too big a deal if you can DIY; awful if you have to pay a dealer to install. Make sure you use the Type S parts, and follow the Type S DIY--both different from the base because it's a different 3-shaft transmission.

2. Get the original Honda Z1 fluid out of the transmission asap. Replace with Honda DW1 at minimum, or good premium ATF like Redline. This is done through a "drain and fill" method, changing out three (3) quarts at a time, with at least some driving / shifting in between changes.
3. Check your engine mounts. Chances are very good you need to replace at least the front mount. Failure is too common—I’ve replaced front and side mounts.
4. Use "top tier" premium gas. Premium gas combined with moderate city gas mileage encourages me to drive smoothly and gently. http://www.toptiergas.com/index.html
5. Ensure your car had the power steering hose recall performed (free). The O-ring at the intake end must also be replaced with the newer orange O-ring.
6. Protect your dash from the sun. Always use a sunshade, and apply 303 protectant as our dashes are prone to cracking.
7. Spend time searching and lurking and reading threads on Acurazine. The community here is full of experts, and there is everything you need to know about TLs here.
Hope this helps you enjoy your Type-S for a long time!

Welcome...........I got my "new to me" 07-S NBP first part of September!!
I am only a month old here at the A-Zine and already had my pwr steering hose recall done (yesterday), have the 3 sensors and redline in my shop waiting for the swap and 3x3, have aftermarket parts ready and putting in an order for a full A-spec kit. New wheels/shoes are on my list for next spring.
These forums are hard on my wallet

Three Wheelin'
The front and rear is still available in CBP, but the sides have been discontinued. Just buy the sides in white and have them painted.

2. My suggestion for you would be do at least two "drain and fills" (3 quarts will come out) in a row immediately (with just a few miles of driving in between--the idea is to ensure that every gear, including reverse is engaged). This will change out about half your ATF. The reason it's not suggested to "flush" or completely remove all the old fluid all at once is that it's helpful to allow your transmission to adjust to the new behavior of the fluid and cleaning agents. Do a third change in a few months. Some guys even change out (3 quarts of) the fluid at every oil change.
3. The ATF you choose is up to you--read about it from the experts who know more about this than I do. Some percentage of type F reduces the amount of friction modifiers (lubricants), resulting in faster shifts (and presumably less clutch plate wear). But too much F (over 75%) isn't good and will cause a "flaring" issue. My opinion is that if your transmission is currently healthy and shifting cleanly, the newer Honda DW1 will work fine, and it's probably the only thing your Acura dealer will put in your car. Once you get the old Z1 out, if you want to you can add some F racing ATF and see how your shifting feels (the old Z1 was too slippery and soft-shifting so get it out of there). Pick your poison, I think the switches are by far the most important thing.
6. I doubt you can find 303 Protectant at an Autozone or Walmart, but it's cheap and easy to order on Amazon.com
