New owner of a 2004 TL

Hey every buddy I recently obtained this TL as my new daily driver.

It is a alabaster silver 2004 TL base with the technology package.

Im really excited about working on this car and have already started to buy parts.

So far what Ive got.

Blackworks Racing Coilovers
Aspec kit ( on the way)
Work emotion Cr-Kia in work metal buff finish ( originally bought for my 240)

Ive only had the car for about a week and Have lowered it.

check it out.

coils maxed out.

Then i remembered this is a dd and raised it lol

and a mock up with the wheels

My planned are just making a clean, low, race sedan.

And here in my other project..

the drift bitch

just saying hi.

-Alex

thank you the 240 has been my project for the past 5 years.

and the first drop was cool until i realized that i had this much clearance to get over stuff.

it was less than a finger.

the coils are actually very comfortable not bouncy at all. they almost feel stock but im usually not the best to judge because im use to the 240 suspension where you feel every little pebble. for the TL being such a large/ heavy car the coilovers reduce body roll greatly but remain very conformable. I think once the aspec lip is on it ill be almost touching the ground as of now.

also with the bwr coils they dont really have tl coils they sent me 03 accord coils. They fit just fine and the rate seem good for the car but the studs in the top had do not match that of the Tl's strut bar. I ended up having the remove a stud from the coilover so it would fit.

Welcome! You aren't wasting anytime modding the TL and that's not a bad thing

I believe you are the only person here on Acurazine with those Blackworks coilovers. I've seen them on some vendor's websites but I haven't heard anything about them.

If you want a clean and sleek TL, raise it up just a bit and get the A-Spec kit. Trust me, it's worth it.

I agree coils and the aspec kit were the first items i ordered.

as for wheels im going to see how the works look. but i might sell them and find some 18 ssr Viennas or something with a lip.

BTW, the OEM '04 TL silver was Satin Silver Metallic; the Alabaster Silver Metallic is a lighter silver and replaced SSM in '06+.

it was a little lower in the front before i took the second pic the only thing that scraped were my mud flaps. and the bottom of my bumper on inclines. im amazed at how well the clearance with the under body is with this car. my 240 scraps rails and its about just as low.

as for the transmission. Works perfectly no issue as of yet. i did notice that the tipronic is a little sluggish. Is that normal with these cars and is there a way i can program the tiptronic so not shift automatically at 3k in first gear?
