New member. Buying soon but have some questions

Hey everyone. I've been following the forum for about 6 months now and have been thinking about getting a TL even longer. I will likely be buying an 05 soon but a few questions since I've never owned an Acura. How long can I expect a well maintained TL to last? I'm fresh out of college and need a car that will last a while. I'd also like to get some opinions on 2 different cars. The first is an 05, non navi, with 40,000 miles with a sticker price of 18,974. The other is an 05, navi, with 50,000 sticker price 20,995. Would you go for the mileage or the navi? and about how much do you think I can get the price down? I've seen some of you posting some great deals but all the TL's in the area (Maryland/Virginia) seem to be around this price/mileage. Thanks for your help.

8" LCD screen smack-dab in the middle of the dash; voice recognition for radio and climate controls; and I believe there is a feature that helps the Automatic Climate Control adjust temperature due to the position of the sun. That last feature maybe available on all models. I do not recall.

I would go with the Navi. I don't use it a whole lot, but it's a great conversation piece when others ride with you.

As for reliability? You would probably sell the car long before you saw anything resembling a major mechanical issue.

Check the manufacture date on both of the cars. If either or both of them were made in late 04-early 05 then you have the old style transmission, which is prone to premature failure.

Also, +1 on the Navi. If you don't get it, you'll surely regret it.

Without me looking for it, I believe the MFG date is on the door jam.

No need for you to check... You have an 04, which means you have the transmission in question.

The TL transmission was revised in mid-2005.

Here is an interesting read. So far unproven, but it might mean something. I'll probably take it into consideration at around 50k on my '04 as a preventative maintenance issue.

I was leaning towards the navi anyway and with the recommendation that's most likely what I'll get. And thanks for the manufacture date advice. I know the 04 had tranny issues but didn't know they continued into the 05.
