New guy here thinking of swapping parts. Am I nuts?

Hey guys this forum is the best. I have a few acuras my wife drives an mdx and have been driving an rl. Well I just got a white 04 tl with a a Ron Jon kit s type taillights and rear DVD monitors. It's a great car but the inside is not that mint and it has no nav. So here is my crazy idea. There is another tl with same color interior much nicer and way cleaner and has nav and nice chrome Acura wheels. So I am thinking of just buying it and swapping all the nice stuff and selling it once I got what I need. A few things I will say first.

1. I am not a gearhead so I will call a mechanic I know that was an Acura tech for 10 years but has his own shop labor rate is about 70 hr

2. The white one I got had 105k miles and I paid 10k fir it

3. The new one I am looking at has 115k miles and also looking to buy for 10k

Anyway thx in advance for any input and this great forum.

Welcome to Acurazine. Wow! That sounds like a lot of work. Are you talking about swapping the seats, dash, etc?

Thx for the reply. I was wanting to swap all seats front and back a few minor parts like center armrest the wheels. But the biggie was getting the nav system. If its going to cost too much I will pass. Thx again and let me know your thoughts.

I've never done a Navi conversion, but I've heard it is a lot of work and time. Perhaps others that have done this will chime in.

Are the exterriors the same color? It's probably just easier to swap the bumpers and side skirts from the RJ kit to the car with the Nav and all the interrior bits you want. The other car only has 10K more miles.

doing a full swap to navi is ALOT of work , alot of hours and since your paying for the labor it definetly would not be worth it, all the wiring is different some wires are not rpesent and must be runb through the car plus all the interior parts, i would definetly say go with swapping the bumpers and other easier items like mglax13 said

Well I guess I should have mentioned the new one I am looking at is black so the body kit wont work. Oh well I think I might just keep looking for another white. I had an 05 in white with nav and 6 speed bought but the guy flaked out on me....ugh...Also this one that I am supposed to get for 10k is probably going to fall through as well. The ideal car would be just getting a 6 speed white with navi and I have the money to buy but I am way to lazy to search the whole country so I am stuck with cars from the Minnesota area which are not too many to choose from.

Put the Ron Jon kit on the NBP and repaint it

Good advice and thanks again. I think I will just be patient and wait around. I really want to stick with wdb since I already had a black one before. My ultimate setup would be a 6 speed white and have all kinds if bolt on things like a Ron Jon kit nice exhaust wheels etc that I would half the year. Then I. Winter bolt all the stock stuff back on. It would be like two cars in one.
