New to forum, thinking of buying a TL 2005

Hi!
I am new to the forums so I hope I am posting in the right place!
Basically, I am thinking of buying an Acura tl 2005.
I live in Canada so prices are hiiiiiiigh but I checked out the car, drove it around the streets and loved it. Perefct condition with Nav and everything.

I like everything about this car and would have already made a deal but since it is my first car, I thought I'd get advice here
The one thing bugging me is the mileage on the car. It has done 160,000 kms. Are there transmission problems with the car at that mileage? I know the older Tls had the problem but it seems like that was solved in 2004.

The guy is offering me 13000$ and for cars that have travelled 130-150 thousand kms and no Nav, offers of 15000$ and up have been posted up.

Should I spend an extra 2 grand and get a Tl with lesser mileage or should I get this checked and get it?
I plan on running the car for atleast the next 3-4 years. Would this be a problem?

Thanks in advanced! hopefully I get good responses

this the average asking price of the cars without navigation.

Also, I should clarify that my main question is, is 160000 km too much for a 2005 acura Tl?

no, but it'll need the timing belt service which can be $1000-1200 soon (as in like the next 10k miles)

Also, get it inspected by a mechanic before you buy. Acura or japanese specialist preferred.

The guy replaced the timing belt and brakes just recently.

For an extra $1500, there is a TL 2006 with 126000 kms on it and no Nav.

Is it worth looking into this one?
or the 160000km gonnna run fine for the next few years?

Still a lot of life left in the car. If the timing belt has been changed, that's one less expense for you. Not a bad deal for a TL with nav, but there's always a better deal out there if you're not in a hurry to buy. See if you talk him down another $1000 or so.

Where in Canada are you located?

Yeah, I'm from Montreal. The first car you were looking at would never sell at that price in Montreal...Too many TLs in the city to be asking that price. Supply and demand plays a big role so you see a difference in price from one province to another.

As for the TL in the craigslist ad, the claim could be for different things, from collision damage to vandalism/theft or something of that nature. If it's something minor, could be a good deal but I would definitely inquire about the nature of the claim.

winnipeg here!

I bought my 06 TL with 81,000kms for 16,900. So for 4 grand less and 160k isn't too bad.. but for 1500$ more and 40k less sounds like the better deal. Test drive em and see how you feel with it. There's quite a bit of commuting in Calgary no?
