New to the forum...

Greetings All!
This is officially my first post as I just joined this site after all my google searches seemed to bring me here when I'm trying to find information... I felt like this is a good community and most people seem helpful so I came on board!

Quick background.... Live in South Florida, I don't own a Acura currently but I'm going to begin searching in about a month or so for a 3rd Gen TL.. ( I've fallen in love ).. I'm an indie hip-hop artist also.. Miami Heat Fan... I could go on.. lol

I hope to gain a ton on knowledge and be able to then share it with others as I learn also... Looking forward to all the knowledge and friendships to come!!

Welcome and good luck finding a car!

Most members are cool but a few could go skydiving without a parachute

Welcome to the "money pit"!

Lots of users on here live out in South FL you won't fall short of having help and advice available to you if needed. Check out the Black Market for some people in FL selling their TL. I know of a few still on the market and they have your name all over it

You sound like you know what you're doing but here are a few things you should look for when buying:

1-If automatic, pay attention to how the gears change and any delay going from P to R or R to R.
2-Check for cracks on the dashboard.
3-Check for excessive wear on the seats.
4-Check for wear on the silver pieces on either side of the center console.
5-Turn the radio to each channel/input and check for static in the background.

Those are just a few common things that members have noticed over the years of ownership. I'm sure I missed a few but those are the big ones.

As for modification, aesthetic wise people go for the A-Spec lip kit and suspension. From there headlights and tail lights and such. Most 6-speed owners go for speed so they get a j-pipe and/or catback exhaust to free up the system a bit.

Good luck

Welcome to the Money Pit.

You're buying a really good car. I have an 08 with 132K miles on it. 60K of those was in the last 18 months.

Just basic maintenance stuff. Biggest one was the TB service at about 105K.

A-Spec difference thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/unofficial-spec-difference-thread-853331/

And you'll just have to search around about problems found with the TLs. The search function here on the site is trash so just use Google. I just type "Acurazine + what I'm searching for".

Truly appreciate that thread... It helped.. but then again it didnt fully.. As Im not aware of the difference when looking at the side of a base TL vs a Type S or even the front for that matter.. and then one with ASpec sides.. I need to do more picture viewing.(Just started researching this car in depth) I can tell the rear bumper difference only because of the larger opening for exhaust....
