New to the fold
My last Honda was a 1992 Accord. I sold my 07 STI Limited last month and purchased an 08 Type S with full A-Spec. This car had been owned by Dan Wheldon. I didn't know who he was until I got the car. He had it dressed with the 18" wheel option and the full carbon fibre-like treatment throughout the car. It had 178 miles on the clock when I picked it up from the dealership on November 26. I have about 1200 miles on it now. It is black with black/silver interior. I got a set of take-off standard S-Type wheels from the dealer and shod them with winter tires. I live in Michigan.
So far, I really like the car. It is worlds ahead of the 07 STI in terms of overall refinement. The A-Spec package is a bit stiff like the STI, but doesn't bounce you around as much, thanks to the longer wheelbase. Where the STI had it all over this car was it's sheer thrust. I'll never forget how it seemed to have endless torque and could literally pin you to the seat in 4th gear. I'm in my fifties and drive fairly conservatively, so all that torque was probably a waste on me. A young man in Canada made me an offer I couldn't refuse on the STI, and here I am in the S-Type. And quite happy to be here.
If I could change one thing about the car, I would add the SH-AWD. I was tempted to wait for Acura to make it available before making the purchase. Then Dan's car became available, and the rest is history. Between the fact that it had everything Acura puts on the car and it's unique ownership history, not to mention the certified extended warranty, I couldn't resist. I'm looking forward to a great ownership. I'm also looking forward to all the things I'll learn from you fine enthusiasts.
I wish you all a safe and happy new year.
Drive carefully!

I saw this car on Ebay. Do you mind me asking what it went for? I was relisted a couple of times and i was trying to follow the auction but i lost track of it.
If so i understand, no big deal, just curious.

Dan Wheldon is a race car driver. He's from England and currently resides with his wife in Florida. Here is a link to his web site. http://www.danwheldon.com/.
I also saw this car on Ebay. I tend to be very cautious about making such a large purchase via Ebay. I want to know something about the dealership and it's reputation first. So, I contacted the dealership directly. After I was satisfied with what I knew about them, I made them an offer. Within a couple of hours, they agreed to let me have it.
I live in Ann Arbor, MI. I don't see much lake effect snow, but it can get pretty icy around here. I always mount winter tires, even on my Subarus. They've never disappointed me. If you live in Grand Rapids, I highly recommend that you do the same.
By the way, Dan also had a beautiful Jag from his stable up for sale at the same dealership. In fact, it had been sold when I arrived to pick up this car. It must be REALLY NICE to be able to have a stable of high end cars and swap them out for new ones when you please. You'd be hard pressed to tell that anyone ever sat down in these cars. I was quite happy to get this car without taking the depreciation hit.

Sorry if I put this in the wrong place. That's the problem with being new to the site. I'll try to be more careful as I get acquainted with the site layout.
My car has the automatic tranny.

Welcome to AZ, MambaTL!
And I'm surprised many of you don't know who Dan Wheldon is-- he's one of the top drivers in IRL, has won the Indy 500, won the IRL championship once and has been a solid contender for the championship for a few years now.
