New Dash Bulbs: T3 Neo Wedge LEDs for buttons/switches
Hey guys,
I just wanted to share a small project I did today.
I recently replaced all the bulbs in the switches around my navi with RadioShack bulbs taht were about 2$ for 2 of them. They worked well but some switches ended up being brighter than others so I replaced them again with 8$ bulbs from Acura. This was a pain in the ass but they all lit up well after I installed them; no hot spots or dim spots.
Then about a week later, two of them went out. Yes, two 8$ bulbs I bought at the dealership. WTF?! I was so pissed and sick and tired of taking apart my interior. Its a real honest PITA to replace those bulbs. You basically have to take apart the whole center console; cup holders, cubby holes, shifter area, radio, navi, and the upper vents. It sucked .
So finally I gave in and ordered Neo-Wedge T3 LEDs to install. They were pretty expensive but I got them from a seller on eBay and he referred me to his personal site where they were just under 1$ each.
I ordered 50 bulbs for about 40$ and they arrived about 3 weeks-1month later.
I finally go around to replacing them today and I'm really happy with the results. They're VERY bright; like VERY VERY bright. I plan on changing as many of the bulbs in the car to these as possible. I saw DM's thread about retrofitting LEDs but that's too much effort. These were plug and play.
The only problem with installing them was that regular bulbs do not have a + or - side so you just plug them in and its fine. The LEDs however do. So when I first installed them, about half were out. So I had to remove them and turn them so they would light up. The only way to do this is trial and error, so that was annoying.

Can you post a picture of how it looks when you turn down the brightness to the lowest setting? Those look TOO bright.
Also can you press the air recirculation and defrost buttons so I can see what color they illuminate?

Awesome. I did mine over a year ago and they are still holding up.
Don't think you can control the brightness with LEDs.

I'll get a pic of them with the brightness down low tomorrow, but yes they do get dimmer if you use the brightness control buttons. But the problem is the gauge cluster gets dimmer as well with it. As for the defrost and dual switches, those when pressed have another led bulb inside the switch that cannot be changed without taking the whole switch apart. They still light up orangeish when pressed (defrost) and green for the dual button.
Forgot to mention I also changed the bulb in my shifter for the PRND etc to an LED. it's one bulb, same size as the one in The center console amd glove box. That however produced hot and dim spots so I'll be changing it or adding another bulb in there soon. One just isn't enough
All of my other LEDs dim as well including my footwell, dome, and puddle lights when I lock/unlock using my key fob.

You can get them on ebay. THere are two different types. One is the type that looks like a regular bulb but is an LED. The other is the SMD style which is more common on the LED boards. I got the bulb style (sorry idk the technical term for it) but I kind of wish I got the SMD style because they don't fit in all the buttons; for example the heated seats. I may go ahead and get some SMD style ones sense I think they will be slightly smaller/shorter and hopefully fit better.

Steering wheel"

Switches:
http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...All&vinsrch=no
12 for the Navi switches
Plus one for the hazard light switch
Plus one for sunroof switch
Plus 6 for the heated seat switches
Plus 1 for VSA switch
Plus 1 for trunk switch
plus I think 4 for the switches around the cluster (for the MID and Max brightness etc buttons)
Plus I THINK 6 for steering wheel radio+cruise buttons
Plus i THINK 4 for the HFL switches in the steering wheel
and...I can't remember any more lol. I think there are 3 more in the driver's door panel for the memory seat switches. Most everything else isn't going to be plug and play.
That being said, I'd probably get around 40-45 total and have some spares. The SMD ones might be a better option because they'll likely fit in more places. So far I know the bulb type won't fit in the heated seats switches I'll have to pick up some SMD ones soon.

Quoted from my progress thread since I said I would post pics here too;
Well I had a pretty productive weekend.
I finally replaced my burnt out bulbs around the dash area and seat heater buttons as I've done twice before on mine and a buddy's TL's. See the thread below. I replaced all the nav button switches as well as sunroof and max and +\- switches near the cluster with regular red t3 neo-wedge LED bulbs. They were too tall for the seat heater switches so I went with SMD neo wedge t3 bulbs for those two as they are slightly shorter in height. Not quite as bright but more reliable hopefully and better than stock.

Took a lot of work but I'm happy with it again and all the buttons light up properly now. At the same time I decided to go with 3 subtle 3mm red leds in each cupholder. They are below the rubber flaps so are invisible.
Pics:
Before here you can see the burnt bulbs on the left hand side. All of those are burnt out.
In the process. Whole center console taken apart and navi/radio removed.
T3 LED bulbs vs traditional oem bulbs in bayonet housings.
These are annoying as all hell to replace and there is a little trial and error but got all the bulbs lit up (if not lit, remove and turn 180 degrees and reinstall)
Cupholder LEDs. This pic is with the cup holder taken apart and rubber flaps removed. I put them back in when I was reinstalling to keep the bulbs covered.
Here is the final product. Night pics. In the first pic the bulbs look white but they truly are a nice bright red.

when buying bulbs for this do I need to go with T3 or T4? I'm going the SMD route. Theres a few different sellers on ebay, I was just going to buy 50 or so that way I'll have extra.
What bulbs did you use in the cup holder?

I just updated all the lights for the climate control and the heated seat switches. The T3 neowedges work!
I tried to do the shift selector light too, but it's a different bulb. Not sure what kind of LED would work there.

I need to clarify that T3 Neo Wedges bulbs will work major all various part of Navigation Console Center, Steering Wheel and Switches. Am I correct? I am not getting there but I need to understand that the T3 Neo is the only one of a kind and will fit all various of OEM parts numbers for the bulbs. Is that correct?
Bear with me I am novice person who I will do anything for DIY.
Thanks
