New 3G TL owner with a few question for you guru's...

Just purchased a 04 TL with 81k on the clock. So far so GREAT! This car DOES NOT feel its age! I was pleasantly surprised with how much pep this car has, this says a lot considering my prior car was a 07 Dodge Charger SRT8 that held a world record and was capable of easy 10 sec 1/4 miles. Had to get rid of my baby due to having a baby. Car was just too impracticle. I dreaded the thought of getting rid of it after all the money and good times I had in it but I must say this TL has made it pretty easy!

Old ride

New ride

Now on to my questions.

1st Ques: The navi isnt displaying maps. It says to check the disc. I checked the disk (orange one) and all appears to be good. Disk is in great shape with no scratches. When I load it back into the drive the Navi reads "Please wait. Now downloading software". The after a min or two it goes back to the check disk screen. See photos. Anyone have any idea what could be the problem?

2nd Ques: Are my wheels a factory option or just an aftermarket wheel?

3rd Ques: The metal trim along the center console is pretty dinged up. See photos. Any suggestions on where to find the cheapest replacement.

4th Ques: Any suggestions on where to get the best deals on the Type S tails?? or the Type S Clear and Smoked Tails? Those are sweet!!

5th Ques: Is there any tuning available for these cars?? Id love to see what she would feel like with a 100 shot. Is it possible??

6th Ques: kind of broad one here. But anything I could/should change out on the car that was improvements off of the years after mine. ie: interchangable parts.

Thanks in advance ladies and gents! Look foward to learning new things!!

first off welcome and congrats! nice color on the car anthracite metallic FTW!
second...sweet SRT8...

to your questions:

1) your navi drive may be dead...may need new one...or get it fixed.
2) you have after market wheels
3) OEM replacement runs about $120-130...dealer will charge more. you could always vinyl wrap.
4) acktl05-vendor here...he does tails..custom.
5 and 6) depends what you want to do to the car. lots of bolt ons and stuff...the dies hards on here can inform you on that or you can read and read and read on here with the search button. acktl05 can get you anything OEM at discount rates. heeltoe auto and excelerate performance have the aftermarket performance toys.

have fun...your wallet is going to hate you.

rv6-performance.com also has some great aftermarket parts. They're sometimes cheaper than heeltoeauto if they're having a sale.

Beyond bolt-ons, there's a turbo kit and tune available. WIth bolt ons alone, one member dyno'd his 5AT TL-S at 293whp. Check this thread to see his bolt-on list and dyno runs: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/what-b-u-tiful-day-dyno-690686/

A couple guys have done nitrous, but not sure about how big the shot is.

Check the Performance Sub-Forum.

Welcome to the forums. The navi drive can be fixed for around $150 if you mail it in to ALPINE. As for the metal strips, just wrap them in 3M Di Noc Carbon Fiber vinyl. The run about $130 each at the dealer. $30 worth of vinyl should do both sides

Edit. Here is a post from member Sharkbreath's thread showing his vinyl work

Congrats and welcome to AZ! You may want to register her at www.myacura.com. Save your Navi and radio codes there for safe keeping.

Are you pretty confident that the drive is the culprit. Just wanna make sure. Do you think one of those cd cleaner kits with the brushes is worth a try?? I know theyre pretty cheap. Know any contact info on alpine by any chance? Thanks in advance!

Didnt trade the charger. Sold it to a good friend thats like a brother. Ill actually still have full access to it whenever I get the inch to go race. And possibly buying it back from him later on down the road if he ever decides he doesnt want it anymore.

But even if he didnt buy it I would have traded it in. My baby girl comes first now. Im saving over a $1k a month by purchasing the TL, that can go a long way in spoiling my baby!! lol

Yes, I'm pretty sure. It is a common issue. You can search a few of the threads on here for information
