New 07 Type-S owner
I just bought my dream car, a 2007 TL Type-S, black with black/grey two tone interior, manual transmission, 42xxx miles. Love the forum so far, browsing helped convince me to buy the car (as if I needed any convincing!). Found it for $23,780 down in Houston, Texas (I live in St. Louis, Missouri).
I have a few questions for you guys:
- For those of y'all who get snow where you live, how does your car handle it? I have had some trouble and some of that can be attributed to needing new tires soon, but I didn't know how much...
- How good should the resolution be on the backup camera? Mine looks a little fuzzy and doesn't really help out that much when I reverse (especially in the dark)
- How well does the NavTraffic work? I have read some reviews online saying it isn't all that reliable but wanted to get some feedback from people that actually use it.
Thanks!

Congrats and welcome to AZ I have an 05 so i have no nav traffic or stock camera. I added a aftermarket camera and LED reverse lights so mine is not that grainy even at night. Maybe getting better bulbs for reverse will help you.

To answer your questions:
My Type S has had snow issues this year too. Maybe I need tires as well. Wipe off your backup camera-you should have a good picture. The NavTraffic is OK-we don't have traffic flow in KC yet, but we're supposed to get it any day now.

Welcome grats on your dream car haha i recently got my dream car too ^^ but a little over a month ago looooove it!
I find my back up camera to be useless too -_____- everything seems so far away (meaning i dont have an accurate estimate of how far the vehicles are behind me are) so I just rarely even look @ it when i start to reverse. i plan on getting those parking sensors though; i think thats what they are called lol those seem to be more reliable when im reversing and also parallel parking too

Congrats man! I live in MD and just got hit with close to 30 inches or snow over a week! Driving when it is snowing was not too bad. The VSA really helps out. I would gun it on a snowy road just to make my tires spin, then turn of the VSA and do it again. It made a huge difference. I never really drove my other car in the snow tho as it wasn't the most reliable so I dont really have another car to compare it to.
The backup camera is pretty clear, but not crystal. Snow or rain makes it a bit more fuzzy but not too bad. I have no problem backing up with the camera. I use the bumper to judge my distance from whatever is behind me.
I also have NavTraffic. It is relatively accurate but only shows traffic, construction, and accidents on major highways and interstates. It doesn't show them on regular roads or navigate you around them. Overall I think it is nice to have.
Hopefully that helps clear up some things.

Congrats on the TL-S.
You should clean the camera lens once in a while. It makes a world of difference. I use the back-up camera all the time because I live in the city. It is a huge help when parallel parking. I can get within an inch of another car's bumper.
The TL-S's stock tires (Michelin Pilots) are known to be not so great in the snow or rain. You might want to swap them out. Do a search on this forum and I'm sure you'll find plenty of recs.
I don't use the nav traffic feature so I can't answer that one. I don't even have an XM subscription because I think XM sounds like glorified AM.

Hey, I forgot to tell you-we have an annual meet in Kansas City every May. We'll be having another one coming up! There is a nice contingency of guys/cars that makes the hop from St. Louis to Kansas City each year for the meet. Be sure to watch the Regional Section for details about our upcoming meet.
