Talking New '07 TL-S OWNER!

Hey Guys,

I leased a 2007 white tl and just recently gave that car back (with over 15,000 miles over the lease without paying the overage!). Now I own a black tl type s b/c I have always wanted one! I had two issues when I bought it.

1) I heard a fluttering sound coming from the engine (recently had this addressed at the dealership as the car is still under warranty).

2) tinted windows have scratches on them which I didn't notice when I was buying the car. I didn't have this on my old tl so I guess I have to remove the tint and re-tint.

Do you know how these scratches came about?

Everything else is awesome about the car, soooo happy I got a type s nowwwww!

Depends what you mean by "fluttering". Could be: valve chatter noise..usually noticed at idle. Or...engine ping...usually noted at WOT on warm days, a prevalent issue with some '07 TL-Ses. Both issues are well documented in the "Probelms and Fixes" forum.

2) tinted windows have scratches on them which I didn't notice when I was buying the car. I didn't have this on my old tl so I guess I have to remove the tint and re-tint.

Again, a well documented issue...do a topic search. In a nutshell, the window swipe is plastic and too tight to the glass causing scratches on tint when grit is trapped in there. Some solve the issue by installing felt or "moleskin" along the edge of the swipe.

Everything else is awesome about the car, soooo happy I got a type s nowwwww!

Congrats! Make sure before you re-tint, install the moleskin. That's the only way to prevent the scratches.
