New '07 TL Owner
Hey, I just practically stole a 07 TL with 92k for only 12k with a really clean car. The only thing this car needs is a front bumper and hood respray cause of a few rockchips, but im really happy with it.
Either way, I want to be preventitive about the trans issues and everything else. I heard the 07+ have a redesigned transmission that does not fail nearly as often as the older ones. Can I still do the solenoid replacements on these or what? Im looking to find a chart about honda transmissions and differences but unfortunately I could not find anything yet. I checked the trans fluid and its cherry red and smells fresh. I was going to use lubeguards ATF protectant stuff but im not sure if i should yet.
I plan on doing a CAI and exhaust, maybe some more.
Also,
Im a old crown vic owner so im going from low tech body on frame to this nice ass car.

Welcome to Acurazine AKA the Money Pit. You got yourself a really nice looking car, and from what you mentioned, a good deal, too.
I would not worry too much about tranny failure in your car, because Honda 'upgraded' the auto in the '07/'08 models (I believe they used the same tranny from the RL). Then again, it could happen to anyone, but as long as you stay on top of it, you should be okay.
CAI and exhaust is a good direction to start in, but as you use this site more often, you (like others) will probably push to start with a drop or Acura underbody spoiler kit (A-Spec Kit). Good luck with your new ride!

I heard the same thing and this concerns me. Where would i find out a definite answer. Also, im not huge into appearance mods... the car is low enough stock for me, although i may go with a different rear bumper cover as i saw a smooth one i like, but i dont know yet.
Either way im a parts guy by trade and im.overly anal about my car... anybsuggestions on this trans thing?

I tried google, google does not show anything really except links to fourms with people talking out their ass from the looks of it. Im not sure what the difference is, and everything comes back to a hondamatic when i look it up at work, and I sure as hell know im not driving around with the same transmission as a 87 somethingorother honda.

+123456 on skipping on the CAI and go straight for a J-pipe.

I agree... When I had my CL-S6 I wanted to hear the vtec cam x-over so my friends at Acura said oh that's easy. They removed the intake resonator box saving my money for the stuff that made big power gains (headers+exhaust).
