New 05 NBP Owner!

New 05 NBP Owner!
Picked up and purchased my very own first vehicle about 3 weeks ago after some very extensive research. I decided on a used 05 5AT NBP TL with 95k miles which has a good blend of luxury, sportiness and is economical to boot. Car is in very good condition and the seller only used the vehicle to commute to work so hopefully it won't give me any trouble in the future.
This car is a nice upgrade from my previous beaters that I used to drive which included an 88 civic with peeling red paint and my brother's 98 civic so it's definitely a very big upgrade for me.
I'm not feeling the rims though, but I will probably keep it for a while.
Only mods completed so far are the white leds in the interior, led trunk, light, blue courtesy lights and the iSimple ipod connectivity kit. Also added 35% tint all around but it looks pretty light due to the parchment interior.
Anyone recognize the area where I took the shots at? Sorry for the horrible and large pics with my cheapie point and shoot.
For maintenance, I have completed a 1x3 ATF z1 flush, cabin air filter and K&N air filter change. Take a look at how dirty the filters were when I took them out. Looks like the previous owner didn't change them out.
Possible mods for the future:
-Trunk lip gurney flap spoiler
Rims: a friend might sell me his 19inch Axis Neos. I'm hoping that they won't rub
-resonator and midmuffler delete

WOW....welcome aboard buddy....by the time u finish spending an hour on here ur list of 3 mods will be 30 and pretty soon cash will start disappearing LOL !!!!
regardless to say u need rims....glad u did the filters and also the ATF drain and refill....since its at 95K miles u should do a complete 3x3 ATF and change the filter on there....change 3rd and 4th solenoid (if needed)......
am a kinda person who does maintenance mods before spending on performance mods !!!
WELCOME to AZINE

Any recommendations on cheap rims? I've been looking at the black market and the ones that I like are over $1000+
I like Volks and the gunmetal aspec rims but those command high prices :-P
Maybe I should just go for some knockoff volks or enkeis?
Also, how much do you think I'll be able to sell those old American Racing chrome rims for?

Welcome and congrats!
Have you considered just trying to grab a set of the stock 04-06 wheels that came on the TL? I personally love those wheels and they will look so much better than those chromies on your car right now

Damn man that blows
Well you should check the Black Market here on AZ where members sell their parts they don't need anymore. There is usually a set of stock wheels in there for sale. Check Craigslist as well. I sold my set of stockies on CL two months ago.

Nice thait! glad to know there's other 626ers w/ TLs. Tls seem pretty rare around here. I think I actually saw you driving down Las Tunas one day around 5 or 6pm going towards Rosemead. I caught a glimpse of your vehicle haha and I saw you look around too haha. Don't know if that was you or not haha
And thechamp531, I'd be interested but I have to ask my friend how much he's willing to sell his Axis neos for.

i plan on getting the timing belt changed at 105k which is coming up pretty quick :-P. a local shop gave me a quote of $550 to get the timing belt changed with a genuine honda timing belt, tensioner and water pump. think that's a good deal?
the seller also transferred the extended warranty to my name and is good till 100k but I don't think it covers wear and tear items such as the timing belt.
as for the wheels, i'm thinking of these enkei's. Other rims up for consideration are the work vsxx and the work emotion matte bronze but i don't want to spend that much on new rims and tires
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv...400860431.html
A bit off topic but where are the specs for the rims that are compatible w/ the TL? I'm new to the offset stuff and all.
From what ive read, 19inch rims can fit. is that correct?

Congrats and welcome man! I also think the wheels got to go immediately. One of the reasons why I bought the 05 TL was cause I loved the stock wheels so I also think you should look into those as a possibility. I looked at the ones your are considering on craigslist and they are not bad for an immediate replacement to your existing wheels but I think you could do better than those later on As far as the stock wheels go, check out the black market or craigslist, people are selling them all the time.
The only other thing I got to say is in regards to NBP, just be prepared to wash your car quite frequently, I made the mistake of getting NBP also which when clean looks sweet but its seems like I have to wash my car a little more often than I wish I had to.

I agree with NBP being an awesome color. I garage my TL everyday and it gets dusty even while it's in the garage.
I use a california car duster, which I highly recommend, about every other day to remove the dust from it.
as for the wheels, i was able to find one for $300 bucks for OEM rims w/o tires. is that reasonable?
the problem is that i would rather just get something decent like an enkei or maybe even rotas for a few hundred more instead of going the OEM then to something better route. I just hate ponying up the cash for rims haha. I know it offers a bit better performance in terms of handling and reducing weight but they're primary just aesthetics imo.

i say if you want rims buy it once and buy it right, reason why im not touchring the wheels yet. i say just get something cheap to roll on if you want to since the chrome wheels isnt flowing the car. oem is your best route cause if you do get a set of wheels you like down the line u have a set of oem to put aside. money isnt easy to come up with =[. but if you are on a budget and if you must. get rotas, i personally have nothing agienst them unless they are being played out as the real thing. and true i also think they are aesthetic only, but they make your car from eh to shabam with the right set and offset!

Even though you cannot justify spending it, it is well worth it because they will look amazing, there are not many around with them, and your car will appreciate it.

Hey Congrats... Man I love the 3rd Gen TL. GO BRUINS!!!
Also if your car is an auto do the ECU RESET, if you'd like fo course. Best of all it's free. https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/resetting-ecu-makes-me-happy-747662/
You'll love your car even more after this.

@ Thait: yeah, most definitely. i'm down for a meet. i actually just finished painting the rims right now. The color didn't come out the way I had imagined but it should be alright. Once the weekend comes around, my g2 caliper paint kit should arrive and the tires should be mounted.
@shooter..haha thanks :-P
@ split797 haha..are u an alum? The ECU reset is awesome. I can definitely feel the difference in the throttle response when pressing on the pedal at a stop sign. there's a lot more go haha
For now, here are a few "teaser" pics of the bronze rims. They look kinda funky..hopefully they look better once they're mounted.
1st pic-Wheels after using the Duplicolor self etching primer
2nd pic-wheels after using the duplicolor bronze wheel paint and duplicolor clear coat ( picture was taken at night with the floodlight in the backyard on along with flash on my camera)
I think the self etching primer messed up the color of the wheels =/
