Ok so I bought an acura TL 3 weeks ago. it is night hawk black with ebony interior. Doesn't have wood inside and i'm not to keen on putting any wood on the dash or console. But I do love that wood shifter they have on hondaacura.com. looks so nice and i bet the feel is great too. the wood steering is too much $$ for me. first off is that a good idea to have a wood shifter in a pretty much all black car. secondly i read some old threat about installation. seems that installing yourself its hard to get the logo in the right place and get it screwed all the way down. also the brushed lower part on the wood shifter is not that great according to the post.

any suggestions on paying the dealer or doing it myself? what is a reasonable price I should expect to pay at the dealer? is it worth doing?

what year is your TL, I have it on my 05 Anthracite/Ebony and it looks nice and different. As for installation you just unscrew the OEM one off and screw the wooden one on. very easy.

I have an 04 black with ebony interior. yeah i had to take my car to the dealer for a door handle part and i asked him about installation. he just unscrewed the shifter and said it was a piece of cake. I could just do it myself or if I wanted to they would probably charge me a very minimal amount.

so you like the feel of it. awesome!. i may be getting that soon then
