hey guys i was driving my firends stock mitsubishi yesterday night around 1am and we had the music at a decent level for us (we are both college kids) but a cop pulled me over and gave me a court summons for noise ordinance i live in NJ i was driving in new brunswick around rutgers when i got the ticket i was just wondering if this happened to anyone before and how much the fine usually is... i have no other tickets or court cases except this should i just plead guilty? do i have any other choice

Pay the fine and, in the future, try not to attract attention to yourself at 1am.

 

thanks i know i have to pay the fine its just so wierd because i always the windows down and loud music in the acura (whos sound system is alot louder) but this is the first time i got pulled over for it so i was just hoping someone knew how much the fine would be

 

Virginia passed a law last year, if your music can be heard 50ft from your car. It could warrant a ticket. If it doesn't do anything to your driving record pay the fine. It wouldn't be worth going to court over it. Sound like the cop needed to meet his quoted.

 

I believe in NY; if music is hear outside your car, it is a finable offense... Not sure why he gave you one here in NJ tho.. But you cant really go against what a cop says.
