Need Some Buying Advice

Currently I drive a '06 RL. This is my 2nd RL and I am in the RL forum every day, so I know pretty much what I was looking for when I went shopping.
Today a young friend of mine approached me and said she wanted to buy either an RSX or a TL. I need to know what would be the best year to buy for a TL and what should I be aware of when buying a used one? What should I expect to pay in the way of a price range? Which would be the better car-RSX or TL?
I will take your sage advice and then go shopping first here on the BB and then a wider search. If you have a clean well maintained TL in Northern California, send me a private email.

TL and RSX 2 different vehicles in my opinion. Best have her drive both, but I certainly would settle on the TL with navigation. The newer the vehicle, the costlier, but the better condition for the most part. The RSX takes regular, except for 6 M/T while all the TL's require premium. If you review the forum, the TL's are trouble free for the most part, but like any make, you'll always have the car that has caused a great deal of problem for their owner. As far as price, best check the Kelley Blue Book for quote. Purchasing a TL is no different than any other car, except check the Car Fax and also all the body panels for matching VIN, read under trunk right side, doors, hood, but fenders and front bumper needs to have panels removed.
Also, not certain as to the price range you'll be seeking, but at @ 105,000 miles the TL needs the timing belt service, $900-1200 depending on the parts and service required.
Have 73,000 on ours and not a dime other than normal maintenance.
Good luck

The RSX and TL are two disparate vehicles, with the RSX being 2-door coupes with high-strung 4 cylinder engines and noisier interior (like its Integra predecessor), while the TL was entry-level luxo-sport 4-door sedans with 6 cylinder engines.

The RSX model years were 2002-2006; the 3d gen TL years were 2004-2008.

The RSX and TL both had higher horsepower versions-- the Type S (the TL-S was only available in 2007 & 2008).

Used TL prices can vary, from $12,000 to $28,000 based on year, options, mileage and condition.

Good information. I found a couple really nice clean low mileage TL's searching today. I sent her the info so once she see's what is available and at the listed price, then she will tell me more about what she is seriously looking for. If I was in the market for a 2nd car, I would look at the TL.

BTW...what is the difference between a TL and a TL-S?

You might want to look at the difference between a TL and TSX. I have owned both and find them to be very comparable (sp?) I sold the TSX to get into a TL because I found the TL to feel more solid and it is faster than the TSX. The TSX felt light to me and it is smaller. I think comparing these two models is a little closer than RSX/TL.
