Need some advise on the 08 TL Typs S

Hi everyone! I saw this Type S and I am very interested in purchasing. The dealer is asking $28995 for it. I emailed the dealer and it took them almost a day before giving me a quote for the car.

The OTD price is $31,469.82 which seems high to me. However the dealer does include Lifetime powertrain warranty on it which I believe it would cost about $1500.00 for it if I purchase outside.

So what do you guys think? How much should I ask for the car. I don't wanna pay more than $28k OTD.

http://www.goodsonhondawest.com/deta...d-5841079.html

According to Edmunds:
Trade in: $23876.00
Private: $26279.00
Dealer: $28157.00
CPO: $30174.00

Any help is appreciated. By the way, I love visiting this site. My gf has a 08 TL base and I think it's finally my turn to get my own

Welcome!
thats a nice car.

I would talk down the price of the warranty, to make the out the door price around 30k.
if you can't seem to agree on a price of the car, check some where else. There's always a better car.

The mileage is fairly low, I doubt you are going to get that car for $28k OTD.

I think you can talk them down on that price. It's definitely high.

Low miles, and its an 08. Id probably pay that for a CPO. But you can keep looking if its out of your range.

damn i wish i've gotten a wdp instead of kbp.

I got my 08 TL-S with 22.5K miles CPO for $32,500 OTD. So your getting it for cheaper than I did.

and also before you buy make sure theres no rattle in the subwoofer. It got really annoying after a while but I got it fixed for free under CPO a few months later.

While this is not CPO from Acura, the dealer does have the Lifetime Warrenty on it for "Free". So I think it's kinda hard to remove it with the sale. What is the different of the CPO from Acura than this one? I believe they are the same.

I got the following Q & A from their web site:

http://www.goodsonhondawest.com/lifetime-warranty.aspx

Again, thanks everyone for the opinions.

Lease cars are not necessarily bad cars. If the lessee doesn't maintain the car, they get fined. If they return it with issues, they get fined. When the car comes back to the Acura, the local dealer has the option to keep it, CPO it and then sell it, or send it back to Acura. The dealer is not forced to sell it, so they really only keep cars that are easy to certify and they think they can sell.

But like any car, you should always check everything out: paint, glass, etc.

May I ask why? Because people who lease don't take care their vehicle?

And according to Carfax, this one is personal vehicle? maybe I am wrong?

What about Florida vehicle? anything I need to watch out for?

No flooding in FL, now if the car came from LA, then I'd worry.

Many lease cars aren't taken care of. Depends on who the owner was.

look carefully as there are two owners reported for that car even though carfax says one. this means it is a lease car that has been returned

It might sound like a pain in the ass, but gather as much info as possible. Check autotrader for any listing similar to what you're looking for as well as local and surrounding area dealers. If there are other vechicles in the area then you have leverage, but if not and the dealer knows it, then you're kinda stuck. Try to find out who the previous owner was and make contact to see what they got for a trade-in value. Also I believe Consumer Guide tells a way to find out what a dealership paid for a vehicle they are trying to sell. Last, get in contact with an independent vechicle inspection company. Usually they will travel to whever you need them. They might be able to see things with the vehicle that you might not, thus could result in more price negotiations. It will cost you about $150, but if it saves you $900 then you come out ahead. The point is, the more resources you have at your disposal, the better deal you might get and it might annoy the dealer enough to just give you what you want just to get you the hell out of there. =)

wow thanks everyone for the help. I should update what happened yesterday. On Friday, after telling my fd I am looking for the Type S, he called his fd and he is selling his 08 TL Type S in white and black interior-exactly what I am looking for. The car has about 21000 miles on it but it's a smoker's car. Mileage is about the same with the one at the dealer and we finally agree for $27000 included the ttl. GREAT! but later that day I got a call from him saying he would probably lose the tax money because he was gonna trade it in to the dealer. So he now wanted $28000 for the car...

So at the end I told him I would probably wait on it since I think that is not the price we originally agreed on.

I think I missed my chance of getting my dream car as I will be getting married next year and probably getting a house soon so this was my only chance. I am sad to say I didn't get the car I want and will keep driving my 00 Accord for a while.

But I will still visit this site regularly, I just can't believe how much information it has for a car brand.

Don't give up-keep looking. Patience will be a virtue when buying a Type S. Just stay on it.

Wait a moment.

I don't care how much it is at this point.

You're getting LIFETIME powertrain warranty. Meaning you never need to worry about your transmission or your engine. How can you pass up the deal? I've had a lot of friends deal with Goodson dealerships and they were all satisfied with there lifetime powertrain. My friend still has his 2004 civic with 250,000 miles and they've replaced the transmission once free of charge.

Of course you can always drop a thousand or two, but if I had the money I'd buy it.

after looking for my 07 kbp tls for months i finally found it and fell in love. that is until i saw the local dealer get a leased white '08 tls in stock. gawd i love that color, and the contrast of the blue side mirror glass gets me all fuzzy in the middle. wish i would have bought the white instead of the blue now myself.

Original poster, find a 2007 with low miles and you will be able to make your desired $28k price tag (maybe even with sales tax included).

you can clean the smoke out of the car fairly easily. I would just remove all the seats and then steam clean the carpet along with some 409 to clean the plasict and dash. when you use the steam cleaner, put some oxy clean in it to help kill the oder and get some hard stuff out.......

back in the day we sold my granpa's car when he died and we got all of the cigar smoke out of it fairly easily.
