Need quick help with Headlight removal!

So I've been trying to change my D2S bulbs in my main headlights, and trying to get to the torx has been a real hassle. The bumper is off, still having trouble though. I decided to try removing the headlights using the service manual scans.

But the two bolts labeled "C" in the scan don't appear to be accessible without removing the intake silencer! Is this true? Do I need to take out the entire damn stock intake to do this?!? It looks like the intake resonator is blocking the bolts. I can't believe what a pain this has become, thought it would be somewhat easy with the bumper off. Please help ASAP!

you shouldn't have to remove the intake. look at the other headlight and remove the washer tank. should be 2 bolts/bracket. now go back to the intake side and they'll be in the same spot. you should be able to see them with the bumper off.

I'm nearly positive I'm looking at the correct bolts. This is a shot of what I'm looking at - you can see one of the bolts in the middle, top half of the picture.

No idea how I could possibly get to those.

That is correct, you have to remove the intake. If I remember correctly if you just loosen up the bolts securing it to the bottom of the car, you should be able to get a socket with an extension in there. But not positive (been 6 years since I had stock intake)

yup those are the bolts. damn...

been a while since i've had a stock intake on my car i guess. you should be able to just loosen up the intake resonator and slide it down slightly. just enough to fit a long extension in there and remove those 2 bolts.

Yup, intake and the windshield washer fluid reservoir will need to be moved out of the way. Once you get the headlights out though, you won't need to put those ballast brackets back on.

Thanks guys. I ended up getting it out without removing the headlight assembly as I would have needed to remove the entire intake resonator as well. Definitely learned a little while I was doing this though.

And I think if I ever decide to remove the headlights, I will also install some kind of intake at the same time, so I free up all that space, and not have to worry about it. It certainly seems that besides those two bolts, the headlights would be really easy to remove.

Perfect time for intake resonator delete

Glad you got it handled! How are you enjoying the drop?

If I would have been prepared for the intake resonator delete, I probably would have gone that route. But I hadn't looked into that at all at the time, and I was on a time constraint.

Drop is working out sweet too, I love the look. I'm debating putting on Koni Yellows to finish it off.
