I have a 2005 Acura TL and my OEM floor mats have been sitting in storage for several years. Even though they’re in great shape, I decided that I wanted to upgrade my OEM floor mats to some 2007-08 ones. For reference, I have the Graphite Black floor mats.
My understanding is that 2004-06 Acura TLs have the following floor mat options:
Graphite Black (83600-SEP-A11ZA)
Light Tan (83600-SEP-A11ZC)
Moonlake Gray (83600-SEP-A11ZB)
Light Cream Ivory (83600-SEP-A11ZD)
I believe that 2007-08 Acura TLs have the following floor mat options:
Graphite Black (83600-SEP-A21ZA)
Grayge: (83600-SEP-A21ZB)
Light Cream Ivory (83600-SEP-A21ZC)
I found a really good deal on a brand new set of 2007-08 Grahpite Black floor mats. The seller even had them in the original box and the part number listed was (83600-SEP-A21ZA). However, after receiving them, it looks like these might be the Grayge floor mats instead of Graphite Black. What do you guys think? My old floor mats are definitely darker, so I’m very confused.

Lastly, regarding the carpet (not floor mats), does anyone know if the OEM carpet color in my 2005 is Grayge? My OEM carpets definitely are not graphite black like my floor mats. It makes me wonder if the carpet color in 2007-08s Type-S models comes in Graphite Black as well or is it more Grayge like mine?
It's interesting that you have black carpet. I know that a lot of models (besides the Type-S) have grayge carpeting and grayge A pillars, B pillars, C pillars, etc. Can you send me a few pictures of your black carpeting?
I always thought that Type-S models also have grayge carpeting, but differ in the fact that they have graphite black A pillars, B pillars, C pillars, headliner, etc.
Okay, so 2004-06 Acura TLs have the following carpeting (not floor mat) options:
Graphite Black Light Tan Light Cream Ivory
2007-08 Acura TLs have the following carpeting (not floor mat) options:
Graphite Black Grayge Light Cream Ivory
This is an example of a Type-S interior, which has Graphite Black floor mats and Graphite Black carpeting (this looks gray to me). Given that my 2005 has original Graphite Black floor mats, black leather, etc. I'm assuming that I also have the same color carpeting as this. From visual inspection, the carpet color also looks identical to me.
In my opinion, the 2007-08 Graphite Black floor mats seem to match the carpeting better (because they are lighter) than the floor mats from 2004-06 models. This is making me think that the new 2007-08 floor mats I have are actually the right ones.
Here is an example of a TL with the 2004-06 Moon Lake Gray Floor mats. Once again, the carpeting looks to be the same as my 2005 and the 2007-08 Type-S options. Given that 2004-06 TLs only have 3 options for carpeting (Graphite Black, Light Tan, or Light Cream Ivory), by process of elimination, I'm going to say that this carpeting is also considered Graphite Black (even though it looks gray)
At the end of the day, I think the term "Graphite Black" doesn't necessarily mean its exactly universal for floor mats, carpeting colors, A,B,C pillars. In my opinion, Graphite Black carpeting looks a lot lighter in color than 2004-06 Graphite Black floor mats. Also, my 2005 Graphite Black floor mats look darker than the 2007-08 Graphite Black floor mats as I've noticed with various pictures of other 2007-08 models.
That's a lot of talk for some stupid color options. Does anyone else have any input? Please share.
wow, nice write up. I never paid attention to the carpet/floor mats color but sometimes I use to think why it looks lighter Grayish and not Black e.g

It definitely looks like your 2005 TL has gray carpeting, unlike the black carpeting in mine.

I didn't see this request earlier, and went out to take photos today. That's when I noticed that, in the sunlight with an iPhone, the carpeting looked a bit lighter and closer to gray/charcoal, like your photos.
IRL, the black carpet and floormats look like those shown in post #11 above.
