Need a good argument to recieve an 06 TL

I will be graduating this year and be heading off to college. My mother (who recently bought a TL) is moving to st. louis. When she initially bought the car, she only bought it because my father made her. Although she has fallin in love with that car, I might be able to get her to leave it here for me and she would get a new car in St. Louis. I need a good reason for her to give the car to me instead of taking it with her. Any ideas?

The question that you haven't answered for us is why a 17 yr old deserves to get a new '06 TL?

Do not perpetuate this line of thinking. This is what gets posted in every thread started by a younger person and we will not allow it to start here.

If you can't answer the question stay out of the thread.

Tell her she deserves better and she should buy the car she really likes. Then tell her she should give you the "crappy TL" so you will have a head start in your next segment of life.

She probably won't buy it but you could try.

Tell her you need a dependable car to get you through college, and something that will save you time in getting to your classes, and navigate you the whole way, something that has built in bluetooth for handsfree operation so your eyes never go off the road, something that has voice activation so your hands never need to leave the steering wheel, something that also has enough room to GET IT ON in the back

HAHA! thats exactly whats happening with me, except my mom is going to california and shes leaving the car here for me b/c she doesn't want to sell it

I'll be finishing up the payments though and when she gets back she'll get a new car

Says it big and safe...lots of airbags, FWD (good in snow/rain) etc...

Incredibly, that will actually work with some parents, and can probably be leveraged into a Boxter, Z3, G35 coupe or S2000 if OP decides to go that way!

Yeah, or they can just reply "over my dead body," which my mother says everytime I tell her I'm lookin to buy a bike..I'd hate to kill her :/

Go with what everyone else has been saying too...that and hopefully you've done something incredibly good lately.

Tell her if she does not leave the TL with you at college, you'll starve to death beacuse you can't drive through Taco Bell by foot at night when your'e up late at night studying which in turn may impede your grades. Equate the TL with the ability to obtain a higher GPA and she may become more persuaded.

On a side note, I do not know what college you are going to, but it is my experience, however, that people with vehicles in college tend to get asked favors a lot. Just giving you a heads up...this is cool until one of your friends asks you to drive to Figeroa and Martin Luther King Blvd. in downtown los angeles for some kentucky fried chicken but in fact he's in the process of a major drug deal involving $20,000.00 that then turns out to be a sting operation by the LAPD and you're caught in your brand new TL and a chicken wing in your mouth while the LAPD has guns pointed at you and telling you get out of the car with your hands on the ground but you can't because you'll have to drop the chicken wing. To top of it all off, they arrest you, impound your car, release you from jail, pay $275 towing fee to get your car out, and then try explaining to your parents you really were not involved in the drug deal all because you wanted to drive you TL to college.......... the worst part about it, nobody knows what happened to the KFC--it was not in the police impound inventory so they won't reimburstment me the $14.99 bucket deal I got.

Or you can tell her that if she doesn't this post will get locked by the moderators and she would not want that to happen am I right?

5 star crash ratings, 6 airbags, excellent brakes, honda/acura reliability, etc.

I'd probably not bring up the big-enough-to-get-in-trouble back seat though...

So your parents spent a butt load of money, and you want to convince them to just give that to you and spend another 35 thousand dollars on another car?

It doesn't seem like your parents have cars lying about that they can just give you...so...

First thing you should ask yourself is "how long did it take your parents to earn 35 thousand dollars" and the next question you should ask yourself is "why does a college student need a 35 thousand dollar car?".

Unless you have two really persuasive answers, you don't have a leg to stand on.

Or

You can tell her that it has in fact (8) Air bags side impact door beams, front and rear crumple zones , break away motor mounts, 5 star crash tested not only frontal but the highest around the entire vehicle. tell her they are the only manufactured car that puts crash testing on the window sticker.
you can tell her that when you come to visit her in ST louie that your TL will be dependable and not break down 1/2 way and ruin thanksgiving.

she may not give up the car due to her personal love for it. I can only agree with her feelings but you can use these same selling points with mom in getting one for yourself , you can go with a preowned that will save you money and still provide the same saftey and reliability.

Let us know how you make out.

Tell her the car is just too masculine for a fine woman such as her. It would do you both a favor by letting you "wear it" instead.
