All,
I was hit in a parking lot tonight and I need to know what the real market value is for my car.
NADA says that it is worth $9K at best (clean retail) and Kelly's puts it at $9700 at best for private party sale...
but I don't really trust those estimates most of the time...so want to see what you guys think....
Car is a 2004 with 44K miles with navigation and 6spd. I am the second owner and my dad is the original owner.
Well cared for, all the records, new Bridgestones, excellent condition and no accidents. Everything works.
It is not an S.

What would you tell an insurance company that this car is worth?

For what it's worth: I was sitting in my car (parked, engine off) and this lady in a 2017 Highlander hit my rear
passenger's quarter panel when she took a right out of her parking space. Left a nice, 11 inch gash
in the fender.

Anyway... what do you guys think the car is worth?

And your sure its totalled from that? That sounds recoverable to me

Pricing is tough especially since manual but there recently was an 06 with ~61k miles that sold for $8200 1 owner 2 years newer, aspec, and stick as well

9K sounds high but if you're trying to get insurance to fix it and not total it...let them think it's that high.
What a fucking shame...get it fixed and be very critical of the paint work and the color matching.

Having low mileage is nice, but you should budget at least a couple of grand to have all of the rubber belts, hoses, and tires replaced, and I do mean A-L-L; this includes brake hoses, timing belt, A/C hoses, and on and on and on.

he's ballparking to make sure they don't total it if they devalue it too much.

Doesn't matter what our opinion is or his. It's up to the insurance company and their ACV for the vehicle which won't be close to retail (9k) on a 14yr old sedan. More around 6-7k because they won't be able to find comparable vehicles with that mileage in their radius. I'm saying 7k because you have low mileage but again it's based on their internal value systems.

depend on what insurance you have, I had experienced with some pay out better than market retail price and other low ball and it way lower than KBB/ NADA book. Its really depend on your insurance internal evaluation team.

Being that it is a 14 year old car (albeit low mileage), I really doubt the insurance company would value it at 9K. As GhostTL09 said, 6-7K sounds about right. I bought my 04 TL for $2450 with 190K miles

I think you could get closer to 10k for it. I've seen a few closer to me for about 11k for that low mileage. I"m in PA, so location may make a difference. They are very popular around here.

Back in early 90's I happened to be looking out my office window and watched a woman backing out of a spot next to my 89' Dodge Daytona Shelby and literally clip it and take off the bumper & spoiler and crease the quarter. Then she just left. I was on the 3rd floor and by the time I got out there she was gone. Ever since then I've always parked my cars far away on the other side of shopping centers etc. I've witnessed how people back out & it's downright scary. If your vehicle gets hit 99.99% of them will just drive away. My 07' TLS gets parked by itself everytime & I do the 5 minute walk into the store.

Same with my 2006 TL 6MT, I typically park it out in "the back 40" and then walk in; where I work the other cars parked out there are things like a few Porsches, "M" BMWs, two "V" Cadillacs and one guy with a Genesis Coupe with the V6 and a 6MT.
