Need detailed info/pics on differences between A-Spec and Type-S

Hey everyone.

After comparing several luxury sport sedans, I am pleased to announce the TL has beat out the competition, and I will soon be looking for an 07 or 08 TL. But I need some help...

I've spent countless hours researching and comparing the base TL and the Type-S. There are certain features on each that I love, but what I can't find much info on is the A-Spec package. I love the way the A-Spec body kit looks, and I know it consists of sport suspension, lower ride height, etc, but I still have some questions I couldn't find the answer to.

1. Does the A-Spec package have any changes to the interior? I think I remember reading aluminum or carbon fiber pieces replace the wood trim, but are there any changes to the seats, door panels, console, or gauges?

2. I know I can buy the body kit and probably every other piece individually, but could I take an 07 or 08 TL into the dealership later this year and have the A-Spec package installed?

3. Does the A-Spec package use the same suspension and have the same ride height as the Type-S? Other than being fitted for quad exhaust, is there any difference between the A-Spec body kit and the body of a Type-S? If we lined them up side by side, what would the differences in appearance be (aside from the exhause and special Type-S wheels)?

4. All of the Type-S's for sale I have seen have either tan or two-toned black and grey interior. Were these the only options available for the Type-S? I've seen some base TLs with light grey interior, so just curious. Were there any other changes to the interior for the Type-S, other than the red lights around the gauges and Type-S badges on the seats?

As you can tell, I'm pretty excited about this car! I've always had sport sedans but recently ventured into the world of SUV's, but am missing them more than I thought I would. I've done my research, but can't find answers to the questions about so thought I'd check with the experts. So thanks again for all your help.

the type-s comes with faux carbon fiber trim. I dont think ive seen a type-s with wood trim.
the only interior piece that was offered was a steering wheel, and only for the 04-06 versions. the type-s steering wheel is sporty enough.

2. call your dealership and ask if they would install factory body kits.
most do, since its a factory accessory

3. this is a pretty tough question.
because there are 3 aspec kits floating around.
you have the :
04-06 aspec body kit
07-08 base body kit
and the 07-08 type-s aspec body kit.

4. yes, the type-s is the more SPORTY version thus only having the two tone black and grey and the lighter brown color.

Remember, there is a base model and a type-s among the 07-08 years.

im sure im forgetting something. any one else be sure to chime in!

aspec suspension is NOT the same as type-s.

aspec will be the firmest of all the OEM supension. it is also the only one that will lower ride height by about an 1".

aspec (drop of about 1")> type-s> 04-06 MT> 04-06 AT> 07-08 base (firmest to sofest)

run a search and you will find the answers. there is a thread that shows the differences in the aspec body kits (pics).

Thanks for all your help, guys. Much appreciated.

Also, in case anyone else is in the same boat, I dug around and eventually came across this link in the photo gallery.

Lots of detailed pics for base, base A-spec, Type-S, and Type-S A-spec kits. Comparing them side by side definitely helps.

Looks an 07 or 08 Type-S with A-Spec rear and side skirts, and regular Type-S front bumper is what I'm going for.

OP FYI A-spec side skirt is all the same regardless of Type S or base.

Damn there was a super detailed post on here, I am surprised you guys cant find it. It quite some ways back, and I looked at it some time ago but it gives the exact details between all 3 TL types; I believe it wasn't in performance.
