Need bodywork advice
Ok, some kids bike pedal just left me with 2 scratches in the back bumper. They are about 1 inch x 1/8 inch wide long and are through the paint. What steps should I take? I was thinking rubbing compound, buffing, touch-up paint. PLease help with any advice. I am good mechanically, but I am not a body man at all. Thanks guys!

What color is your car?
If you want to patch up the paint, you can, but it'll probably look a little odd and not match very well. Generally speaking you'd have to sand down the entire area and repaint it from scratch, being careful to blend it in with the neighboring areas.
When I had a bubble on my bumper the dealer sent it to a bodyshop for repainting.

A re-paint is the only way to get a fix that will not be noticeable. Just did it on the wife's Subaru, cost about $400. Nice job, no dirt in paint or lemon peel - make sure thay add the flex additive to the paint - any reputable shop knows this, but the stuff is not cheap, and I saw a cut-rate spray that started to "craze" just be the flex of normal drivingf and thermal cycling.

My car is black. Thanks guys, that's what I was afraid of. It isn't really noticeable, but to me it stands out like a beacon. I guess I will see what I can do, and eventually let a pro take care of it. Thanks again. By the way Road Rage, do you put moblie1 10W30 in your TL? I saw some of your posts about engine oil, and was wondering your personal preference.
