I know the screen is in the dash, but where is the DVD player that has the map software located? The actual "guts" of the system with the video cable and stuff? Is it mounted in the trunk?

I don't have my TL yet, otherwise I would look for it or rtfm...

I'm planning some mods (pre-delivery) and I'm just trying to see where the location is at so I can plan accordingly.

Although this shot was to show some possible cargo net configurations, you can clearly see the DVD disc loader on the right side on the trunk.
