A mystery: are some Type S', A Spec from the factory?
Hi everyone.
Just noticed on my driver side door jamb that my sticker states 235/40/18 for tire information, but I've never put on A-Spec wheels; I'm not the first owner, though.
Aren't the factory waffles 235/45/17? Did some TL-S come with A-Spec wheels from the factory?
Look below, that's my car. I asked a friend to take a picture of his car, and lo and behold, his has 235/45/17.
I dont know much of anything about the TLs. But based on what you've showed us I would say you were sold an Aspec, not a TypeS. I assume when you bought it it came with the waffles? Any other way you can tell it's a TypeS and not an Aspec?
Hopefully some TL owners can clear this up though.
I could be wrong, but I think if someone were to buy a set of the aspec 18" wheels new from the dealer it comes with that new sticker. So either one of two things: your TL had aspecs in it at some point and the previous owner changed the sticker, then sold the wheels eventually. Or it came from the factory with the aspec accessory wheels (or aspec package) and the dealer put the sticker on it.
And yes the Type S wheels are 17" with 235/45/17 tires.
I'm not positive but when I was lucky enough to find a dealer with an 8.5" A-Spec rim, I believe it had a new doorjam sticker in the box. Again, it's been a while since buying it, so I may be wrong.
I bought my car used, and it was completely stock besides the 8.5" A-Spec wheels.
My door jamb has two labels, one for the stock wheels and one for the A-Spec wheels.
Everyone here has given good information.
Most likely I would say the previous owner sold the A-Spec wheels, and left the door jamb sticker.
From the pic, you can tell the A-Spec Door jam was placed over the Original Door Jam sticker.
Awhile back, there was a member giving away the A-Spec Door Jam sticker, which I got my hands on one, to go with the A-Spec Wheels I purchased used locally.

I was definitely sold a Type S. I think the previous owner had A-Spec wheels on at some point.

So, if you purchase A-Spec wheels option from the dealer and have them install it, they do replace the sticker in the door jamb?
Your second hunch is what I'm guessing; but the thing is, when I bought my car, the A-Spec Lip Kit wasn't on it, and the wheels were the factory 17's waffles, so that's what puzzled me.

Hmm, yeah when I bought the car, it didn't have the A-Spec Kit OR the wheels....thanks for your information.
Anyways, thank you all for your input. I'm thinking the previous owner had A-Spec wheels on at some point and then put back on the waffles. The car was completely stock (no kit, no aspec wheels) when I went to buy it.
OR the highly unlikely scenario that the car was shipped with A-Spec wheels on it.
if your car shipped with the aspec wheels from factory, then that would be the only sticker. looks like yours has the original 17" one underneath.
I thought the 18" tire pressure spec was 39/36? not 35/32? have I been wrong this whole time?
also, I noticed your spare tire says 135/80/16...that cant be for the type S since type S uses the special 17" spare to clear the brembos. Only possibility is if the sticker is for an 07-08 base, or 04-06 auto.

Well, shit LOL. I don't know.
After I bought the car, I was putting on the OEM visors, and I noticed the driver side rubber weather stripping was a different material and much harder to take off. And had a blue pin on it. The other 3 doors had an orange pin. It made me suspect the driver side door was replaced because of an accident, but I think my minds just wandering places now....
When I get home, I will see if there is a sticker underneath the one I have now. Will keep you guys posted.
you can def. see the overlap of stickers in the KBP pic.
Thanks man; you're right!
I peeled off the sticker and lo and behold 235/45/17 is right there. No picture though, too lazy, didn't have phone with me. So I guess the owner before me had A-Spec Wheels on.....interesting.
This helps answer all of the questions, although the tire pressures listed and shown on the pictured labels (38 psi front / 35 psi rear) differ than the OP's label showing (35 psi front / 32 psi rear).

Thanks everyone lol
What were the dimensions listed for the spare on the hidden sticker?
I don't know why people would ask a question like that; I tend to consider myself car-literate, if you will.
Anyway, my problem was solved, please lock the thread. Thank you!
I wasn't trying to be a jerk, that's why I said it might be a silly question, I don't know you or if you are car literate, you have just recently joined the forum also. My apologies. There have been guys that have converted their base TLs to a look-a-like Type S. If you happened to be a guy that didn't know what to look for a guy could be duped.
07-08 TYPE-S was available in an a-spec package…only thing different in the years is that on 07-08 they didn't have a new steering wheel. oh, rims were x8" and not 8.5
