Mysterious crack on my 2007 Type S trunk lid!?!

So I barely ever open my trunk and recently popped it to do a full detail on the interior of it and body panels. Look what I see, there is a huge crack about 6-9 inches long on the underside of the trunk lid on the driver side. I have no idea how this happened and what should I do? I want to run by the dealer and see what they have to say tomorrow.

Has anyone ever seen this before?? The other side of the trunk lid is perfectly fine and no crack.

Take it in and see what they can do. Under warranty they must take care of it.

You sure that things never had any body work? Do you see the original VIN labels on both your trunk lid and the rear bumper?

assuming he bought the car in April of 2011, I would take bets that it was in a collision before.

If it was never in an accident I'd say due to poor prep at the factory, maybe no primer applied before the paint or too much paint in that area. I'd contact acura ASAP.

Yeah I know the labels being there isnt always a perfect way to tell if the vehicle has had any repairs or collision damage, but its a good start and very easy to look. It usually doesnt help as far as repainting or basic body repairs, but in instances where body panels are replaced it can help with determining that.

Ive thoroughly examined my trunk and cars history, there has been no bodywork done at all. even looking at it, I can tell that it is still the factory paint. Compared it to my friends 08 type s in NBP. My service guy said hes never seen it before and I have to go back tommorow to see the service manager. She will decide what to do.
