My Two Week Review
My Two Week Review
Hello again,
After two weeks ownership of my ASM '08 TL-S 6MT and some serious time scouring old posts on here, I developed my own post "newer car ownership" thoughts.
First and foremost, manual transmission for the win! I totally understand viewpoints favoring the automatic transmission due to city commute and friends with bum knees. But after test driving an '08 TL-S 5AT and then my current 6MT, I realized the transmission makes the car how I envision the overall picture. I don't have any (unavoidable) third gear issues, but am about to purchase an extra slave cylinder to remove the check-valve. That way if it pisses off my significant other, I may quickly fall back onto comfort clutch.
All-in-all, I love the car. Please note I am coming off an incredibly trustworthy '96 Grand Prix GTP; ten years without car payments was fantastic...
There are still several technology features I couldn't pretend to operate, but will tend to that this weekend. I have a laundry list of typical improvements that I some how am trying to justify without pissing off the a fore mentioned 'significant other.'
I am ordering up a fresh set of Wizard's car care products and will most happily post photo documentation of car detailing. Nothing better than spending eight hours making a car glow! Thanks all, I love this site so far! Lots-n-lots of good feedback, knowledge and ideas!

Congrats on the purchase. I previously owned a 07 TL-S 5at and even though I loved the car I had the oppurtunity to drive an 08 6mt the other day. I never really believed anyone on the forums when they claimed how big of a difference the overall feel and power that there actually is between the 5at and 6mt. I was shocked at how quick that car felt with the 6mt! What I also liked about it is before driving the car I assumed it was going to be a real touchy clutch and until your completely used to it was going to be a real shaky ride. I was surprised to see that it is a VERY easy car to drive with nice short throws with short and easy to use clutch feel. Overall I really liked it and now I kind of want another Type S but with the 6mt :-)
If your Type S is going to be anything like mine it will also be a very trustworthy car. I had no issues whatsoever with mine it was great!
