hows it going guys, well...as the title says, my car got stolen today. I was at Exxon and parked. I got out and while i was lockin my car with the remote some poor, bum looking white guy around his mid 40's snatches the keys from my hand and goes in the car and locks it so I cant get in. He then drives off with my car......Kinda stupid the way it happened i know but man. Called the police and what not and got the all that info from them. My question is does a non-navi TL have some kind of gps system in it where you can track its location or no? If not, you guys have any pointers to help me out in this situation? thanks alot in advance. really means alot.

What year is it and what are the last 5 of the vin #. If it has onstar they can pinpoint it down to within 30 meters. A little more description please.

If it's a 3rd gen TL, it won't have onstar. Even if it did have nav, it only tracks the satellites and reports it's position on the screen. It doesn't send the position out to a remote source like onstar or a cell phone would.

 

You are aware you don't have to spin, extend your arm, and point the remote at the car for it to work, right? But this thread is crazy. Let me guess, you're going to go to the dealership and demand the car be replaced under warranty?

 

I'd definately do something a little more and just stand there and watch while he attempts to steal the car. I'd probably get one of those squeegies you use to wash your car and start whacking him around with that

 

I did not know it was a 3rd gen tl. I own a 3rd gen as well. I know they dont have onstar Triads. I am not kidding you. If it is a 2003 it has onstar.

Just in case anyone has any ideas about stealing mine, It is set to self destruct within 5 seconds if someone sits in the driver's seat whose ass doesn't match my butt prints. It was one of those extra features Acura offers over Infiniti & Lexus.

 

If I were the car thief, I'd at least wait till after you filled her up.

that being said if someone stole the keys to my car, i would break the window before they could get away, then open the door and put their head in the door jam and kick it in till it fell off...but then again, that is just me....

hey guys...i dont know what to say. you all think im bsing and i have no idea why i would. when he backed up of course i chased him but i he drove off so i couldnt chase him. and there were a few witnesses that gave me thier cell phones. state trooper and county police were called of course. heres some info. they blocked off 100 and 97 north after i called them. gave the cops my info and what not. they said it isnt probable that he would be caught in transit...i just hope when he dumps the car he dosent mess it up in anyway...whaveter tho, you guys seem like you dont wanna help at all which is fine. insurance was called and gave me a claim and all that. c you all later. this is not bull Sh!t. sorry if it seems like it. only had this car for 5 months.....later guys.

Sorry, VtecTL, but we TL'ers are just a skeptical bunch, having been fooled quite a few times in the past. It's not so much that we doubt your veracity, we just aren't sure you are telling the truth, so what TacoBellSauce said about scanning some of the reports is a good thing to do if you want to verify what you said.

Hey guy, sorry to hear about your stolen TL. Mine was stolen also.

In reference to your question concerning a GPS system. The TL does not have a GPS system in it. It has to be purchased aftermarket.

My car had Mobileguardian installed. It's like LoJack. With Mobileguardian, your car can be tracked on the interenet as well as over the phone. My car was recovered, however, because the thiefs were involved ina high-speed chase, the car is a total loss.

 

thnx alot for the info ed-head, as for city and state where my car was stolen, it was in millersville, MD. I understand you guys have been fooled in the past but I mean, I do have better things to do than go on some forums and bs about something like this and if I was bsing, what would I get for it? my cell phone was in the car when the crook took it so i had to temporarily cancel my service with verizon. i wish had gps turned on in my cell so i atleast had that to try and recover my car.
