Good luck with everything. It could have been worse.
When I'm trying to cross lanes like (and it's rare), I ALWAYS check each lane as I inch forward. I never assume that all the lanes are stopped and gun it across. Plus, I don't have the right of way.

Definitely not totaled. I recently rear ended some one in my 07 type s and the front damage was worst then yours. Needed both new head lights, new bumper, both fenders, new hood, new radiator which was leaking and condenser. Total was about 8 grand after taking it all apart. I also need new fan blades.

You get a better deal if the car is totaled. Your car looks repairable to me and should drive fine. My insurance totaled my S2000 when someone stole my seats and paid me off very well.

Steve probably has a whiplash neck injury. Most likely will get better with rest and time. Go see your doctor if you're really concerned.
This shows that paying attention to the lanes next to yours is important too. Didn't you wonder why the two left lanes' traffic stopped while your lane is moving at ~35 mph?

And I understand what you are saying about the two lanes being stopped, this is my first accident and I have no tickets, so I am usually a very safe driver. I'm not sure if this could be avoided because the lanes were moving, slowly, but moving. Definitely didn't notice the two cars that decided to stop to let the truck through, but that's in the past...
Anyway, the body shop seems pretty backed up and its not looking like I'll get a legit estimate until tomorrow. Sweet...

I had a similar accident back in 2005 with my 04 TL, when I had it. The total bill was $12k and then was when the car was brand new. I'm sure fixing this will be less and they won't total it.

Here's my to-do list that I wish I could hand to the autobody guy for him to do on my car:
-New hood
-New fenders
-New bumber
-Aspec lip
-New headlights (with Phillips 85122+ HIDs )
-Instead of color matching everything to SSM, install of the parts then paint the entire car Alabaster Silver Metallic (so I can add the aspec rear lip! )
...These are the things I think of while I'm twiddling my thumbs, waiting to get my car back (which probably won't be for 2 weeks )

Did you see a doc about your neck? Your neck and upper back can be slightly out of alignment for years and that can equal a jacked up neck when ur older... just saying b/c I am a medical doctor and I hurt everyday from an injury that started in an accident like urs.... 20 years ago

I really appreciate the concern. I will definitely get it checked out tomorrow if it's sore. I've heard that around the 3rd day after the accident is when you are most sore. Is that true? You still think I should get it looked at?

^ I really don't feel that sore... You think I should get it checked out tomorrow? I feel like a wuss if I go because it's really not that bad... although I'm not sure how long this soreness will last. I'm really sorry that you're having to deal with that pain. I'm sure it's no fun.

I just got off the phone with Jim at Accurate Auto Body. He gave me a parts estimate of $6,852.86. This covers the following:
front bumper
headlights, side markers
radiator
ac condenser
hood
left fender
blend left door
fix passenger front fender
paint SSM
He said he'll begin the actual teardown of the vehicle on Monday so he may find some other things wrong with it, causing the estimate to go up. I'll keep you guys updated!

Damn, didn't know parts were that expensive.
Fix right fender? They're not replacing it?
Best of luck with the repairs By the sounds of it, nothing important to the car's driveablity was damaged so that's very good news.

No it's really not that expensive. Body shops Don't get paid like us, they make more money on the parts then the actual work. The parts listed if he bought himself would run him 2,500. Throwing on all that those parts are a no brainer. I have a lot of friends in the autobody business, I'll call them to find out the exact regulations. I remember it having to do with the hourly charge, at least under NJ state law autobody shops have to charge something like 10 an hour or less for the repairs that why they hold your car forever and jack up the prices on parts.

^It's fine, what happens usually is the insurance companies (yours & guy's at fault) deal with each other first without letting you know what exactly is going on. But if you are concerned call and find out. I got into an accident similar to that as well a few years back, my neck hurt for 3-4 days, like you said 3rd day was the worst. I didn't go to the doctor, but looking back at it, i should have just in case. Btw, i hope that thing is totaled so you can grab a fresh one. Im not trying to give you ideas but a friend of mine gave a little incentive to the body shop so his car would get written off.

2nd or 3rd day is about rite... and yes, to protect yourself for the future, do it, if you haven't already... your neck can be out a couple millimeters and it can make a huge difference over time... kinda like a tire on a lower car... ... ya feel me?

Hey everybody. Well finally the body shop called me to give me the estimate after the teardown of the car. $8,722.08. The list is too big to post but its basically $4917.60 worth of parts, $450 for paint, and the rest is tax and labor. The body shop guy told me that they will have the car for AT LEAST three weeks! Guess I'm stuck with my "awesome" Hyundai Elentra rental car for a lot longer than expected

Yeah, thanks a lot for the concern guys. Neck is A-OKAY. As for the car, I posted it for sale a while ago and I thought I was going to sell it and then buy a TSX wagon when it comes out. I guess I'm just going to have to trade it in now after people see the CarFax report....

Trust me, it'll feel amazing having your car back after dealing with the rental.

Just a heads up. Insurance companies only report up to 30% of accidents to Car Fax... and it take about 6-10 months for them to show up. i hate how everyone depends on Car Fax. Plus if the car is repaired correctly in an I-Car Gold shop i dont see why it would matter. You will get bent trading it in so why not try to sell it?!
