Yep...I remember that; funny as hell. The Z06 handed all of them their arses.

Then, by your argument, they should stop painting these cars blue and giving them gold-colored rims too. You're talking about aesthetics, not the merits of the wing.

I was commenting on the use of the word "rice." "Rice" in the usual context means "all show, no go," i.e. form over function. You can say they look ridiculous, you can say they are cop-magnets, but you can't say they are "rice."

And finally, I'm GLAD they're "counterproductive to the mission of fast [illegal] driving." Keep it on the track.
I have no use for :

1) Juvenille looking wings - "functional" or otherwise

2) "Loud" paint colors (give me black, silver, midnight blue...)

3) "Gold" rims

4) Busy looking front ends with huge "driving lights" and hood big hoodscoops (which vibrate like CRAZY on the Subaru).

The cars themselves (EVO and WRX/STi) are outstanding performance car values; it's the "Boy Racer" cosmetics that turn me off/prevent me from buying one.

Sti's are fast... I raced one in my grandpas Stock 911 Turbo and it stayed with me for like 10 seconds before i got a car length in front. Ive raced a few M3's and M3's dont keep up as well as this Sti. I bet it was running slightly higher boost though.

Still...for all the 'lame looks:

THE STI IS A FREAKIN BEAST, A MONSTER

Stay away. Freakin' monster that thing is.

<---debated heavily between STi and TL. Went for luxury over sheer, raw, unadulterated, nasty, gut-wrenching speed.

Me loves that STi but wanted a little more space.

Be warned...that car is incredible in every sense.

The M3 (333 HP version) is the faster car once speeds get into triple digits...

On average, M3s post faster trap speeds.

And "cornering" is a very BROAD term that exceeds skip-pad and slalom figures.

The Sti undoubtedly offers more bang/dollar. But is looks like a child's toy and is bound to draw far too much attention from the men in uniform.

don't forget that the engine is designed after boxsters

this was my first pick until i wanted a little luxury over performance. no luxury at all, just pure performance on this car. no radio either. and yes sorry to say it will beat the TL but i still would pick the TL over the STI. maybe if i was younger i would have thought otherwise

The engine IS a "boxer" (not boxster)

It's a flat (180 degree opposed) 4. That's a boxer.

Sounds like he's trying to make excuses for the fact that a Subaru is faster than a TL...

Many TL owners on here BOAST when they BEAT another car...

But when they lose, we get to hear "excuses" like his.

Oh, that explains everything. That car is an all out sports car. Not a blend of anything. I am glad Suburu finally decided to bring them over here.

I think 99% of the general public has no idea what the WRX or STi is capable of.

There's only 1 excuse for the TL not beating the Subaru...the Subaru is a little monster. I certainly wouldn't make any excuses after getting my ass kicked by an STi...there are few cars that wouldn't get their ass kicked by an STi. Low 13's from a showroom car on radials, no matter what the price is, is damn fast.
