These people have a lot of nerve, trying to accuse me of "switching out rims" so I can get another set!!! They are claiming the car was equipped with the proper rims when they sold me the car!

I suggest you write a letter to the BBB, sign it, make a copy and send it or take it to the dealer. in the letter address the letter to the BBB, cc the dealer and any attorney (real or otherwise) you feel like including.

Feel free to include the url to this thread documenting others finding this issue for you. Also explain how you intend to post and tell everybody which dealer ripped you off.

On top of that, I'd also call Acura directly. Why would anyone get a new set of 04/05 rims in order to get new 06 rims? Your tires are new, and it's just ridiculous that they have the audacity to accuse of doing something like that without any proof.

Hope it works out.

The salesperson I bought it from spent over an hour going through everything on the car with me including TPMS. This is the first time I actually felt the guy knew his stuff and gave a damn about each sale. Your dealer obviously didn't do that and I think you should talk to a manager or even try contacting Acura HQ regarding the wheels. Good luck.

That doesn't explain how the TPMS system got disabled, is reading all "0" and not throwing an alert. Very shady.

if you dont have 06 wheels with tpms sensors in them, I'm guessing those readings will be "0"

Something to keep in mind if you get new rims.

I contacted the BBB and they are sending me all the paperwork I need to file a complaint. I can't believe they would pull such a stunt!

The primary goal is not to file a complaint with the BBB, but to let the dealer KNOW you're filing a complaint. So copy and cc them on any correspondence you may have including details like a cc to Acura headquarters or even better see if you can dig up the name of a vp or 5.

Bring a copy of all this paperwork to the dealer and ask to get the name and signature of the manager (signing off that they sold you the car and are aware you filed a complaint with them and that their verdict was that you swapped the rims) so you can include it on the complaint going out tomorrow unless they trade your 05 rims for 06 rims.. wtf would you buy 05 rims to get another pair of 06's??? they are incompetent morons.

I agree with the above. Try not to threaten or yell, be composed and business like. The worst that will happen is the dealer won't care and you wind up submitting his name to the BBB as well as Acura. Good luck.

i can even believe what i am reading.... let me grasp this....you bought a 06', so it has the TPMS.. a couple of NICE people on this forum point out that u have 05 rims...you take it back to the dealer and tell them that there must be some kind of mistake bc those arent 06 rims.... then, they have the audacity to accuse you of trying to get another set of rims... WTF... those rims and tires must be brand new... i dont see why they just cant swap them out for you... what kind of tires are on your car now... the michelins or the good ol' EL's.. tell them if they don't give you the rims, then you are bringing the car back... i think that at this point you can still do it... but act quickly god speed...

They are still refusing to replace the rims, claiming that I tampered with them. This is ridiculous, I'm going to submit the forms to the BBB. I'm very glad that the people here have good eyes, without them further down the line my resale value would've taken a hit. Thank you to all the NICE people on the boards!

Sorry I hadn't noticed any posts in here so I didn't reply. Latest news is I've contacted a lawyer, now we're waiting to see whether the dealer will settle out of court, or if we're going to do this the hard way.

Thats f#@ked up. These dealerships are full of sh!t. its ok for them to stick it to us but when we do it to them then its morally wrong. What a freaking joke. But I do hope everything works out for you.

I don't see the logics AT ALL on the dealer's part. How could you benefit by swapping your 06 rims for 05 then claiming you didn't get 06 rims? Of course the TPMS won't finction until the proper wheels are installed, but why couldn't they simply conclude the factory made a mistake? Why would it automatically be your fault. Don't the wheels look in brand new condition?

Mind if we inquire as to which dealership you bought this car at..so that others may avoid them like the plague?
