My new mod (one off)

To paint the engraving you'd use paint filling method. You would need a syringe, red/black paint and some paint thinner. Mix 10 mm of paint with some paint thinner, make sure that the mixed paint's viscosity is light enough to pass through the syringe needle with ease. Gently drop a couple of drops in the engraving and work it around nicely along the edge till you have a smooth fill
.
How about a 6 speed MT knob with the 1-2-3-4-5-6-R powdercoated in black and instead of the "TL" on the bottom, have the "Type S" logo with the word "Type" powdercoated in black and the "S" powdercoated in red. So basically this design with the "Type S" logo instead of the "TL".
I think that design would be a big hit with the 6MT Type S guys on here. What do you think?

i would definitely be interesting in one like this. Instead of TL letters with the Type S logo.
Man, you got skills.
I agree that Solidworks is a powerful CAD system. I use it at work to redesign a production machine that needs improvement. Kind of makes me want to use it and design a shift knob myself though I do not have the machinist skills that you have.
Props on your incredible talent. Just bought a TL a few months ago. Kind of wish I had the money to purchase a TL earlier to have been able to get my hands on one of these.

Slowriderr,
I was wondering if you would be able to help me out with some pointers. I am going to make the attempt to try an create my own knob using Solidworks since I missed out on the opportunity to purchase one of your sweet knobs. Let me know if you are willing to help me.
Thanks

Yea, that was mainly what I was looking for? I can't seem to find that answer anywhere. Do you think it matters where the thread starts compared to to the front and back of the knob? I want to make sure the knob is in the correct position when it is fully screwed on.

Anybody wanna chime there
on this?!Have you started modeling anything? or are you still in the early early stages of measurements..?
Ha, Didnt notice I said that. I guess I should have reread before posting.
Have not really started doing anything. It shouldnt take too long to design it once I get the right measurements. I was thinking of taking apart the stock one but I dont want to ruin a perfectly good shift knob.
Yeah, might have to take off the stock one to figure that one out. I am wondering if the start of the thread is the same as the end of thread inside the knob?

Their was a used one in the black market for $15.. might be a good investment for taking apart.

Nice work man! I have been working with a neighbor that has a CNC Machine in his garage on a nice all billet knob for my A/T. I am not a fan of the stock and it will match the trim on the center of the dash.
PROPS!!!
PROPS!!!
VF series is great. They are so quick and you can accessorize them to the end - they have a sweet probe system now that automatically sets work offsets, checks tools for wear and breakage, and checks the part when its done. I would love to get a VF-2 SS; it is the high speed machine with faster tool changes and faster rapids.
I mostly design and make compression molds for long fiber reinforced thermoplastics but been toying with making shit for my bike and my tls.
I was wondering how you machined the cross hatch pattern? what type of tooling did u use? Not sure if you want to but how did you fixture the part for machining? any pics? I have a hard time with that and would like to learn.
Anyways, Great Work! I might have to do this to give myself a challenge
