My at might beat your mt to 60
the only thing im mad about my 08 tl-s is that the autos are limited to 135 but im sending my ecu in on thursay to get that removed 155 here i come. and on another note i cant tell you how many stupid altimas/maximas/lex250's/g35's /srt-4s/3.8 gens repping either a anti vtec license plate or sign get smoked badly. acura auto gear ratios rape face especially when you got it hooked up to a vtec. People never take gear ratios into consideration these days. A perfect example my 2008 acura tl type S 5AT FWD Stock vs my friends 2003(i think i forget year that model came out) Mazda Speed 6 6MT with some work done to it. lets look at the stats here... Horsepower mazda takes it by about 15 coming in around 305(after what hes done to it) while my tl is rated at 287. For the Weight category the acura comes in at 3700 pounds while the speed 6 has a curb weight of only 3550 so once again the stats would point towards the Mazda being the faster ride. If that weren't enough the Mazda is awd with a 70% power to the rear and a 30% to the front tires giving it a sporty grip and its manual and im auto so the result?
We line up at a red light (oh yes a dig i know youd think im screwed here) the light hits greens my first gear slips and is choppy all the way to 20 mph. His perspective the light turns green he doesnt slip whatsoever and grins as he rockets past me up to around 25mph. (ladies and gentlemen this is where gear ratio comes into play). Now he shifts at around 28mph(short gears) into second. At this exact same moment my tires stop slipping and i rocket through the rest of my first gear all the way up to about 43mph which at this point has thrown me far past him. By the time ive barely pushed into 2nd hes just getting into 3rd near 65. The point of the story is power/weight ratio aint everything its how you pair it with the correct transmission and gear timings. wtb a video of a 08 type s at vs mt 0-60

More of a crappy driver with a short shift rather than the gear ratios. The MS6 is basically very similar to the TLS with 270HP and 280FtLb torque, vs. the TLS 286/257, the weight is very similar, and all the reports I see, the TLS and the Mazda have very similar 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Of course you'll always find the exaggerated MS6 times of 5.2/14.1, or the TLS 5.4 14.4, but all in all very similar. Also, the little 4 cylinder reaches the HP peak at 5500 compared to the Acura 6200, and torque is achieved with the Mazda engine at 3000, compared to the Acura's high 5000.
Boils down to a crappy driver as I said before.

I tend to agree with your underlying sarcasm by omitting an adjective out of that quote, but I wouldn't classify either car as "slow", especially with a capable driver behind the wheel. I'm sure you have answered this question before, but what do you drive that you are using to compare to what is "slow" and what is "fast"?
My UA6 5AT is pretty damn quick to me, but one must understand that I have been running around in small displacement four-cylinder motors for the most of my driving history. Of course, I'm going to see a big difference. Enough of a difference to where I have seen no point in upgrading any of the intake/exhaust elements of the car to produce more power or torque that I probably would never use in a daily driver.
Oops... off topic I guess. But it sounds like this thread was getting off on the wrong foot anyways.
