My 'A' lost it's BLING!

HUGE problem! I cannot sleep....

I mentioned somewhere out here my 'A' badge on the steering wheel airbag cover lost the chrome finish. No BLING!

So when I stopped by to see parts dood to pick up something for a certain other AZ member , I mention it to parts dood to see if a new Acura A could be picked up. Parts dood grabs the service advisor (both good guys) marches ouyt to my TL where they tell me they never saw that before. (Can you imagine, it is the symbol of Acura ..and stares me in the face as cheesy white plastic...oh the humanity!). Well before I can slide in a quip about Acura quality, he says.... 'Thats NOT right, it MUST be replaced...we're on it". So I ask parts dood if I can have new bling. He says they need to order a whole new airbag assembly.

OK, maybe I can cover it with duct tape or one of those platichrome crown airfresheners in the mean time. As I get ready to drive off, they yell: "And lay off the HORN!".

So it's been 2 weeks now, no bling. I get a call from service advisor and he apologises that the airbag is on national backorder. No bling for me...

All I want for Christmas is a new airbag with...

Interesting indeed!

Hey there, TampaMike!

That's interesting that happened...although I am sorry that has happened to you (I'd be pissed too!)...but, it now confirms what the dealer told me about the emblems two weeks ago (although, I was referring to them on the outside).

When I bought my car I had the gold emblems put on and my b/f asked me to ask them for the chrome emblems so that I could have them (don't know for what...I didn't ask ). The dealership told me that they threw them away; that when they take them off with basically a plastic putty knife, the emblems crack and break - so they toss them. I thought maybe he was bullshitting me, but perhaps he was right??

White, huh? Maybe I'll swap you if it matches my car I do have a couple of questions, though...

1) What are you doing playing delivery man? Do you have a satellite service in the Charlotte area, you know, a local company you outsource this to when the job isn't in Tampa?
2) Did you explain to the service guy that to accomplish the task of notifying other drivers of your presence (normally a quick tap or two of the horn) takes a good solid minute or two of laying on the horn in Florida? Those old people can't hear $hit!

My 36 year old boyfriend is not a Hip-Hop wanna-be.
However, I do believe he wanted me to keep them in case some day I didn't want to have the gold emblems; but for $150 we realized it's not an issue to just have them replaced back to chrome if it ever comes to that.

Unhappy

I am sooooo ashamed. I cannot let my TL be seen this way....

The chrome finish just wore off. Maybe it was the way I gently caressed the 'A' while waiting for stoplights? Can you feel the love?

Nah...

It was more likely my acidic alien blood and sweaty palms avoiding those Florida drivers while picking up parts for that certain AZ member, who I mailed them too, only to have them cast aside like unwanted candy corn after the Halloween haul. *sigh* No, I am not bitter.

Oh, the shame. I cannot bear it.

It took about 2 months for my airbag replacement to come in. Mine was starting to crack to the left of the A symbol, like when the airbag deploys and breaks the vinyl.

Don't despair Mike....

You can use this to get you by until the real wheel comes through for ya (just put some of this over the A) ... and don't let people tell you it's ghetto!:

Bling!

That is a very odd issue you have. Great write-up though. Made me laugh the entire time I was reading it.

glad you kept them. My v6 Accord (firepepper red) had silver ones, I got the gold ones. The dealer was good at giving the silver ones back to me without my asking.

Unfortunately, those cam in handy b/c last year, just after Christmas, someone broke the front gold emblem as it is screw on and key my car, then proceeded to steal the rear one. Btw that happened 2 days after christmas btwn 2:30 and 3:30pm in front of $400k homes.

I applaud you for the excellent use of the smileys. They really got the emotion across. I feel for you.

If you would stop putting burn marks in your steering wheel and putting them out with your beverage on the way home, I bet the chrome would last longer! What did I tell ya about doing that stuff while driving in Florida......too many blue hairs driving in your lane to do that successfully down there!

Does anyone have an Hyundai badge I can borrow.....puleeze?

I was not the same driving home from the office staring at a white, plastic 'A'. No bling to reflect the sun into my eyes and confirm the ABS and VSA are properly working.

And no, chill_dog, you only caress the stick if, well....ummm,,,errr... you know...

But yes, she does flash those violets at me as I approach her in the garage.

Adam, TWO MONTHS for new BLING? Can I borrow the aluminum foil NOW Scribe?

That is long enough for a 12 step program....

*sigh*
