Unhappy My First Ticket

Damn, yesterday I was pulled over for the first time in over 8 years. I was apparently doing 60 in a 45 zone. It was a very rural road, but I was on the phone (legal in PA) and wasn't paying attention to the speed or the hidden cop car. He told me he would write the citation up as 5mph over the limit so I wouldn' t get points on my license. I just have to pay a fine of $115. I was thankful. Two lessons learned: the TL is extemely easy to drive over the speed limit without noticing it and (2) I'll never drive on Limerick-Trappe Rd in Limerick again.

At least in California . . . . . if the ticket isnt writen for the EXACT speed you were going (ie the officer helped you) then the ticket in itself is incorrect and invalid. Kinda a nasty card to play on your own Karma - but it works.

Sad, you got ticketed for going 15mph over the limit? I wouldv'e threw up so bad that vomit would squirt out my tear glands. At least that loser gave you a break - all they really want is that $115 from you, because they got nothnig better to do than bother the innocent.

Correct, all they want is the money. The town is very small and I'm sure a lot of their income comes from the tickets. Oh well, live and learn.

Run Forest, run....

"GUMP",
Wow, $115 for 5mph over... Thats steep.
I never give cops too hard a time for writing tickets, I tend to think they should write more. I despise reckless "speeders" - you know, the type that make you say: "damn, where is a cop when you need one".... Anyway, I am as guilty as you all when it comes to "fudging" on posted limits. I'm always 5-15 mph over but feel I drive quite "mature" like....
It's true (while receiving a ticket) most of us feel like the cops should be spending time going after the "bad" guys, but in all reality us "good" guys also need a little spank'n for braking the rules every once in a while.

I continue to keep my fingers crossed that some other "good guy" on the road gets it besides me though...

Thanks for "taking one for the team" GUMP.

It's funny, I do some travelling for my job and usually I'm the driver for other co-workers. Even my buddies say I'm a really safe driver. I do usually go over the limit, but I'm never in and out of lanes like some drivers and I'm never doing over 75 or 80. But it's still over the limit and I was wrong. What shocked me was I was on such a small road, with no houses, etc, and got caught in a trap. Obviously, others speed on this road.

Oh Yeah..Go Eagles.. I won't have to worry about driving next weekend since I'll be in Jacksonville cheering on the Birds.

In Florida any ticket written for exceeding the speed limit (whether 5mph or 50) carries points to your license. The trick they use here is to not write a 'speeding' ticket, but a ticket for failure to obey a posted traffic device (i.e. the speed limit sign) haha.

In either case the ticket puts points on your license. :cop:

I would confirm that there are in fact no points being applied. If not pay the fine and move on.....

That sucks, I received a ticket last week too for speeding, 79 in a 65. I bought my new 05 TL less than one month ago. The car rides so smooth that you don't know if you are speeding, well in my case at least.

Called the police department on Friday to confirm no points will be levied. They said that was correct. I'll pay the $115 and be more careful.

Sorry about your ticket. Travelled Limerick-Trappe Road on many occasions as I used to live only a couple of miles away from it and used it for 422 access all the time. It was only for the grace of God (and the blinking headlights of oncoming motorists) that kept me from falling into the clutches of the speed traps on more than one occasion. I wouldn't NOT travel it but would just be careful of my speed on it.
