Are my engine mounts bad?

Took it to the mechanic and he said he would fix them. Picked the car up, took it to another mechanic and he said they're bad and need to be replaced. First mechanic is telling me engine movement is normal and my car is fine. Don't know much about cars :/

How many miles on the car and how long since the engine mounts have been replaced? Automatic or Manual transmission?

135K miles
04 TL Automatic
Mounts replaced at 100K just recently started feeling the engine move when I gas it to catch up to freeway.

If I recall correctly, your car has three engine mounts and two transmission mounts; did you replace all five at the 100,000 mile mark? If so, unless your mechanic used an ultra cheap brand of aftermarket parts, you should still be good to go.

Could it possibly be they aren't adjusted correctly?

There is no "adjusting" motor mounts; they're either installed or they're not. By the amount your motor is jumping around, it looks like yours aren't even installed. It looks like the motor is about to jump out of the engine bay, you need them replaced ASAP.

Anyone here replaced engine mounts themselves in their garage? What tools did you need? And is it worth trying to do it yourself?

its not hard, just a bunch of tedious stuff. you will need a following

swivel head 3/8 drive
short and long socket metric set 14mm - 17mm
long wrench
floor jack
a piece wood 2x4
jack stand for support.

Worth it DIY? well that depend on your time vs money. I am too busy to make money to the point I don't even do my oil change lol, if you working 40 hours a week this is a perfect job for the weekend.

Not sure if you got a receipt from the first mechanic. Maybe he only installed one or two engine mounts, (side and front perhaps) but as stated before you have 2 transmissions mounts and 3 engine mounts. if all of them were replaced, your mechanic must have provided the cheapest mounts on the market. OEM acura mounts are expensive compared to aftermarket but they will absolutely last that 50k+ mark easily if the car isn't abused all the time. I have the innovative poly mounts, and to be honest, compared to all of my other cars with poly mounts I can say they aren't that bad. 8/10 for comfort which I know is why most people buy an acura.
