Ugh .. I used to out accelerate GTP's (stock) from a stop .. mid-roll, etc in my modded 'S. Now i'm getting smoked by them, all over again.

We took it up to 50 mph .. that GTP low-end torque is a killer ..

That's OK, PeterUbers...our car has barely less low-end torque than many of us would like. Just wait until there are headers, exhaust, chip, and supercharger for our car!

Do not underestimate GTPs. I ran agains one of them at the E-Town race track and it ran 13.9. These cars are very easy and cheap to mod.

Are you saying that 04TL is slower than 02TL-S?

A modded Type S is faster than a 04 TL. Once Comptech gets those I/H/E done it should change the field.

It's the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (Performance) only 240hp. I have a '01 and desperately trying to sell it (hint hint).... since I bought a new '04 TL. :banghead:

Guys -- there will be NO headers from Comptech or anyone else -- the stock headers are WELDED onto the engine block. Do not expect anything other than a possible supercharger .. and w/ the 11:1 compression ratio of the stock '04 TL .. don't hold your breath for a supercharger.

my 02 TL-S had intake/headers/exhaust/pulley ... was spinning around 300-310 at the crank .. pulley like CRAZY after 4000 rpms and had a nice bite low-end w/ the pulleys. I miss the power of that car..plus the engine was loud so you knew something was up when i jumped on it.

An intake ain't gunna do jack for the 2004 TL .. neither is an exhaust kit ... the car already has a high-flow intake (cold-air from the factory) and a high-flow exhaust system

Looking at the exhaust design on vtec.net I think there is some gains that can be made with an exhaust upgrade. I wouldn't expect miracles though. Making better low end torque is much harder than high end HP. You always get more HP making the engine breath better but it is a balancing act, usually a gain in HP causes a little loss or no change in low end torque.

Want more torque, push more air in, aka supercharge it. There just isn't much space left in the engine bay.
