Yeah, there's lots of 'em.
You'll probably get one for the Power Steering Hose as well (Search for threads on this).
Recalls are a way of life now-and-days. Car manufacturers are so much better able to track individual part failures and production lots.
Of the past 6 cars I've had (various manufacturers back to '99), at least 5 have had some sort of recall.
Generally, it's not that big of a deal.

recalls shows the company is actually thinking of the consumer by monitoring cars
![Annoyed](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/annoyed.gif)
don't automatically count out a car because it receives recalls... now that is not the same thing I'd say about the beef meat packing industry...

trust me, a hose recall or a wiper motor recall is nothing. try major engine recalls like our friends at toyota were issuing out. feel lucky that we got off easy and have recalls that are pretty minor in comparison. ours cars have very little that really go wrong with them, and if they do it is usually fixed for free. i know you are disappointed that you have to take your car in so soon, but thats probably the last time you ever HAVE to visit a dealership for the rest of the time you own it.
btw, mine is going in for the hose recall next Wednesday...I hope they give me a good loaner

Better they fix a problem than not tell you about it have to pay out of pocket when it breaks. I have a 2000 ford focus as well as my TL-S. I must have had 15 recalls but it is a great car and I still have it today.

free is always good, I wonder if they'll give me a free rental??
but anyways, a recall like this is nothing. My tl has been good to me soo far and being an acura, I know it'll be reliable in the longrun. So many years to come w/ my tl and tons of mods on the way

the two dealerships i have been to both give free loaners. i think its the dealerships option to do that, but i think most do.

Here are FACTS
recalls are Govt mandated, NTSB, (you can go to their site to check any car for recalls)
the maker MUST replace whatever part- its SAFETY related issues- for free, on all the cars in the specified VIN range.
Ford just issued one for basically every car they made under any brand name from 1999-2006!
These Acura recalls are a faulty wiper motor, easy replace- takes half hour
and the power steering hose- takes 2 hours to replace-
helps if you drop the car off the night before so the engine is cold to work on first thing in the morning!!
I believe its a problem with the fitting/connection can break- at the pump!!!- spraying flammable fluid all over the engine compartment, and on the hot exhaust-
that could result in an underhood FIRE!!!!!!!
Recalls are no joke- call and get in immediatly- MANY of the affected VIN have used up the supply of hoses in the parts warehouses- so they are on backorder, and those cars have to wait until more parts- that have been corrected- are available
The dealer tries to give you a loaner car when possible, they only have so many,
it helps to ask in advance.
If you register your car by VIN on these 2 places- the web site has a Recall section- you are looking at the details of your car- it will know things before a noticed is mailed out
http://owners.acura.com/registration...erstepone.aspx
and at 1-800-382-2238 x5 and tell them ~new owner~

In many cases, the recalls are voluntary.
Admittedly, the manufacturer may volunteer to recall a car after they've spoken to the NTSB/NHTSA and been told, "Either you issue a voluntary recall, or we'll issue a mandatory one."

SB, of course that is correct, BUT I was talking about the manufacterer and/or Gov't ISSUING the recall, not the Owner's response to it.
In many cases the manufacturer ISSUES a recall voluntarily; occasionally they get their arm twisted behind the scenes to do so. In other instances the Gov't requires the manufacturer to issue a recall.

in my 04, one day i got in and it was raining. I tried to turn my wipers on and they did not work. this was about 10 months ago. luckily i had rain-x on my wimdows and was able to get it to the dealer. They gave me a loaner and i had to wait a few days for the replacment, (a completely new model number) to come in and they replaced it no questons asked. All i did was drive in with no appointment and they took care of me. Hall Acura of Va. Bch is a good dealership.

what I meant was that ALL recalls are important ~safety items~
- they are registered with the NTSB. You can look up any year and model car and check for recalls issued
Whether the maker says - lets do it because we are good guys, - or the govt says- your going to do it because the gas tanks fall out of 1 in 1000 cars,,,- recall means MAKE a call~
A sticker should be getting placed on the car somewhere that says a certain recall has been done- so techs know.
No one can make you take it in - thats correct, you are free to stand by the side of the road and watch helplessly as the entire car and its contents are consumed by fire,
thats totally your choice.
If you have been notified of a recall and dont take care of it, your insurance could argue negligence on your part.
There are other programs for problems that only get fixed if owner complains about it- not every car may require it.
The 99 TL has an ignition switch recall, certain 03s a timing belt pulley alignment issue.
these things happen-
everyone needs to be registered on the acura systems for this

Judging from what I've read on this particular issue, it seems that a good deal of you folks are like me with all of this. You hate to take you car back to some dealer for anything. So you fret and worry and agonize about it until the time comes that you decide to bite the bullet and take it in because you know that a safety recall is really in your best interests (this is the serious side of me taking, now).
When I got my '04 TL back on Thursday morning (I waited for it while they did the recall), upon a very preliminary inspection, I noted that the plastic engine cover had some minor scratches that weren't there before. Also there was some sort of spray residue on the bottom outside of the windshield just above the cowl. There was what can best be described as a soapy odor coming from the dash vents (both with the A/C on and off). When I got home and examined the work a little more (using my Service Manual as a guide) I noticed they had broken the little right rear "tit" that secures the passenger side plastic cover to the rear cover.
So no, your car is not going to come back in the same condition in which it was when they received it. THIS is why people like me (and others, I'm sure) DO NOT like or wish to take our cars in to a dealer for any sort of work. Looking back, I should have removed all of the plastic covers before taking the car in. If there is a next time (of course there will be for the timing belt), I will certainly do just that.

I just had the wiper motor fixed. When I looked it up online it seemed to have been about the possibility of the motor getting exposed to water or something like that. No big deal IMO. It could be a lot worse. Little things like this are common.

i just looked up the recall about this on the net, and saw exactly what it was about. Since my wiper motor was replaces months before the recall, i don't think they did the rest of the stuff on it, so it looks like i will have to take my car back in when i get back to the states and have it taken care of before it happens again, and while its in i migh as well get the power steering hose replaced as in the other recall. I have 40 days to go before i am back.
