My Adrenaline is Up!

I am heading down a hill and I see and hear this older body mustang convertible with a roll bar. It peels out to get behind me. This thing sounds HUGE. Had to be some engine work done to it with the sound that was coming from it.

We actually met at a stop light where there is an exit to the right in exactly a quarter mile ahead. Unfortunately for me I was in the left hand lane. We both lit it up. And I was excited becuase I had him pretty good by the end of 2nd gear, but just as I put my signal on to get in the right to get on the exit he was cruisin quick up to my passenger door, so I did not risk it and punched it straight ahead.

If the lanes were changed I would have screwed him by getting in the lane...but now I dont know if I had good way to tell if I took him in the straight line or not. Overall it was a good time, and that thing gained on me fast, but I think I had it in the quarter mile....just could not get over because he was at my rear door.

Just thought I would share. Now my tires are all heated up and ready to run!

You smoked a 5.0 with a roll bar....
I assume the guy didn't do too much work.......... they are about 225hp stock assuming a 1993 GT. If not, it could be around 140~160hp. Any real work can make those things a 10 second car easy.

good run

It am pretty sure it was the 8cylinder GT but I would say it is a late 90's model. I am not really familiar with the stang but it did not sound naturally aspirated. Could they be supercharged? Thing sounded like and old school 68 camaro

^ when you said "older body mustang convertible" could mean many things

older body such as 1994~1998 GT convertible

older body such as 1993 5.0 GT convertible

older body such as 1999~2004 GT convertible

Most likely you ran against a 1994~1998 GT convertible with some sort of roll bar with nice exhaust tune. A stock 1994 ~ 2004 GT sounds pretty good and with Borla exhaust can sound nasty yet not so quick.

As you mentioned, if the car was supercharged... you would have heard the "loud whine" hence you didn't. A supercharged GT convertible will dust you, needless to say you won........... A modified 5.0 can be slow depending on what they have. 1993 mustang GT convertible is one of my favorite mustangs. So my guess is you raced a slightly modified GT convertible (1994~1998) with some sort of N/A setup. If you know how force induction works, a FI'd mustang will beat you......

Good work, those things aren't that quick stock. Most of the ones around here just have a noisy exhaust, so I don't have a problem taking a challenge from them. congrats
